Doesn’t Obama’s proposal for the upcoming budget sequester cut about $900 million from FEMA? Including disaster relief, food and shelter, and flood management at both the federal and state levels?

BTW – calling out another Obama lie:
In the last debate Obama tried to blame Congress for introducing the idea of the sequester. He said that sequester cuts are “not going to happen.”
But the sequester was Obama’s idea, and he signed it into law in the Budget Control Act.

If you don’t believe it will ever rain again there is no need for a rainy day fund is there?
    .
Personally, I know it will rain on the just and the unjust, and being prepared…

Nope, you misunderstand as usual. The idea of the sequester is to ensure that action occurs, because with this Congress it takes major threats to make sure some agreement is reached. It won’t happen unless the GOP really gets even more stupidly stubborn than it has been thus far.

There is a community in Florida which charges $75 per year to respond to fires. A man called the fire department and reported a fire. They checked the records; he had not paid. He offered to pay them whatever they wanted. They let his house burn to the ground. They did, however, keep his neighbors’ houses from getting dry enough to incinerate. Many firefighters were nauseous because of the orders they were required to follow.

This is what happens when we cut taxes to privatize services. If only our populace was capable of independent thought….

We all benefit and we all also “pay” to be citizens in this country even if it is not directly tabulated in dollar amounts. The question is and will be “by how much and in what manner” will this nation obligate its citizens to account for these realities? Will you elect the socialist who has no time or respect for time honored political and sociological truth or will you elect the careful practical politician Romney who is well aware of the limits of government AND cold theory and is able to govern from those realities?

Are those of you missing the point doing it on purpose – just like the fallacy of this “cartoon”?
Why FEMA exists is similar to why the military exists – to perform nation-saving actions that individuals cannot.
That is a world apart from other services – such as giving free birth control to those who want to have sex. Or funding ‘charities’ who give advice on how to hide underage human trafficking / forced prostitution. What tax money we must pay should go towards services that are essential – not what folks should / can pay for themselves. That poor DC grad student – wants to have so much sex that she can pay for fancy clothes but not birth control. It is only “fair” for our tax $ to be given to her for that. Is that what you all are really saying? Incredible!
