Unfortunately, the pattern of over-generalization again manages to obscure the reality. There are still States that DO NOT require “background checks” for the purchase of some firearms; and the requirements for Gun Shows also vary from State to State – as, by the way, do the Statutes concerning what/which Governmental Agency will perform the “background check” in and for the particular State. But of course, the poster, “Onguard” doesn’t let little variations, here and there, prevent him from posting his notions of “all round absolutes”.

I would suspect that “Genome Project” is attempting sarcasm, which seldom – if ever – manages to really come across in short written form. However, that aside, NO HUMAN SYSTEM has ever been – and most probably never will be – “perfect”.

The Constitution – by way of the Second Amendment – is crystal clear: “The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” And, as a RIGHT – in the fundamental meaning of the word – it has not been, and IS NOT, breached by providing for a method for screening those who seek to “bear arms”. (Unless, that is, one believes that even little children should be able to play with AK47s and banana clips full of live ammunition, perhaps.)

Fanatic extremism, on both sides, has managed to polarize the issue into what appears to be unsolvable “black vs. white” stance. (With both sides claiming the other to be whatever “opposite” be perceived.) Indeed, fanatic extremism appears to be the “flavor of the day” in nearly all socio-political and economic areas. The problem might be somewhat more resolvable if all and sundry could return to the REALITY of sensible “compromise”.

Blame the Navy for their failure to revoke this minority’s High Security Clearance after they knew he was mentally unstable, Had the Navy done their job and revoked this man’s High Security Clearance, this shooting would not have occurred as he would not have had card key access and Staff would have been told to block him from accessing the building.

“…this minority’s…” Yep, I was wondering which of you troglodytes would be the first to bring this red herring into the discussion.

“Mass shootings”, anything 4 or more in a single incident, ARE typically by insane people, but are NOT the real problem that is leading to some 15,000 MURDERS by GUN a year in the U.S. BTW, in the past ten years, something like 15 POLICE OFFICERS have been MURDERED by folks using cars, more than “blunt weapons” OR “Edged weapons”!!

Tje Navy knew he was mentally ill. The VA knew he was mentally ill. They didn’t inform the NICS. So he bought a shotgun. He kiled most of his vbctims with guns he took off security guards he killed. How’s yu morons’ universal background checks going to work for THAT?

Speaking of background checks, the shooter PASSED a background check for a SECRET clearance. Maybe we should look at how affirmative action is skewing the process for granting security clearances. If this guy were white, he’d have never gotten a SECRET clearance renewed—and that is a FACT!

This is the reason I read Luckovich!! a perfect mindless leftist counterbalance to conservative talk hosts. I listen to conservative talk radio and very short exposure to Luckovich provides all the balance required.

Since Congress bows to The NRA and Wayne LaPierre after every mass shooting. let the members of Congress pay for their own armed guards and not get protected on my dime.
