You’re right; Boenher, McConnell, Cantor, Cruz, Jindal and Limbaugh make the entire country looks like a bunch elementary school dropouts.

Americans are the most thin skinned, aggressive, excitable, bipolar people on the face of the earth. Problem is we tend to bomb those who excite us.

A good point. Why would Putin want to write to the American public? Your thoughts, marten?

Obama: The ultimate slacker in chief. I say we’d be better of giving him a sign and putting him on a street corner….

OK, someone with a brain has stolen Omnius’ name and posted something that was not stupid. I know it is not really Omnuis because the words “moron” and “Tea Party” are missing.

    Did you read his post?
“just tea party morons” is right there and prominent, it is omnius all right.

it would not be fair to have all the trolls on one side, balance and karma are maintained.

Putin lecturing the US on our values is more than a little hypocritical. But, I’m pretty sure Putin has seen this chart:

He knows the lady can kick him right back to Moscow.

Putin’s op-ed was brilliantly crafted, and pretty accurate. That his “sincerity” can indeed be questioned, given HIS history, Chechnya et al, his points were valid, and should make Americans think about our nations’ mutual roles. Also, as to vetoes on the Security Council, anti-U.N. folks should pay attention to OUR vetoes, not just Russia and China’s.

Kofi Anan, btw, has a book addressing UN failures, and the causes, as well as the accomplishments, worth reading. OOPS, there’s that actually READING “problem” again that affects the “right”.

“That may be, but it doesn’t tell us who his intended audience is. I can’t seriously believe he was trying to make inroads in US public opinion, so whose opinion was he trying for?”

I think Putin was really talking to his audience at home in Russia. He didn’t say much to change American minds, but there was a lot of red meat for Russian nationalists who miss the days of being a superpower. Putin needs to bolster his support for Assad with a population that is largely indifferent to Assad. If he makes the issue a matter of national prestige, that helps his cause.

His secondary audience was other nations. Putin has been trying to establish Russia as a credible alternative to the US. His repeated references to International Law were a rather ham-handed attempt to make Russia look like the good guys.

It’s kind of hypocritical for a quasi-dictator like Putin to piss about overreaching executives.
