April 30: Cumberland, KY 5-year old kills 2-year old with .22 his father gave him (the Cricket “My First Rifle”)

Also in April: New Jersey, 6-year old shoots 4-year old while “pretend shooting” with a .22.

The next day, a 6-year old shot and killed his mother in Lebanon, TN.

Feel free to google the rest of this BS yourself.

The plain undeniable truth is that unless the world’s population can recognize that over-breeding is going to cause the planet to go into a death spiral,
    there is no hope. It’s not a pro-choice/ pro-life situation; it’s a pro-choice/anti-choice situation.
And if you can’t see what is happening because of overpopulation, that is really sad.
Here is an example of responsible action: When I was a little girl, I wanted to have 5 children (I was an only child). But after my third child, I decided to have no more. because I realized that I could not support 5. Our planet cannot support an infinite number of people. We should be aiding Planned Parenthood, not deploring them.
remember. every new person on the earth is going to have an impact on YOUR children.

Here is the problem with comparing the shooting of children with abortion, as a matter of argumentation: Everyone agrees that born children are people who are entitled to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” just like eveyone else. Not everyone agrees that an unborn fetus is a person. Hence, pro-life people and pro-choce people approach the abortion debate from opposite philosophical premises about whether the subject is a person, which is not the case in the gun debate, making the abortion comprison invalid.

And I have seen nothing more stupid than some of the NRA logic on adding more guns to the only nation in the world that already has almost 1 gun for every man woman and child.
Of course those guns seem to be mostly in the hands of a small number of people (NRA and criminals – is there a difference?)

“Y’all want to take a way are 2nd amendment rats!”
The clarity of your statement speaks volumes about the kind of people so fearful that they might have their guns confiscated. There is no major effort from either party even suggesting such a thing, so it’s never going to happen, but semi-literate gun-fetishists fret and scream endlessly that they might lose their precious weapons.
It seems to border on a castration complex.

As sad and as troubling one may find these stories, restricting the use of firearms, especially who can legally own them and what they can legally own, may not keep these incidents from happening.

Just like drugs, where no legislation out there has curtailed their use or curtailed the crimes being committed either on drugs or for drugs, restricting firearms may take the same course, where if outlawed or restrictively regulated to the point that owning a legal firearm is prohibitively expensive, people will resort to illegal means to procure illegal firearms and you will still have the problems out there where children will be using these as toys and killing off their friends in the playground, their siblings by accident, and even their parents.

What failed that five-year-old who accidentally shot and killed his two-year-old sibling were the parents and adults in his family who took it on themselves to gift a firearm to that kid without teaching them how to properly use it safely and legally.

And no legislation outlawing or heavily regulating firearms is going to make anybody safe out there, especially those of us, myself included, who do not carry firearms or even own them, because when a government outlaws something, it also loses control of how to regulate it and control it.

Adam Lanza was recent proof that regulating firearms to keep them out of the hands of people with mental problems was not going to keep firearms out of his hands any more than it kept firearms out of the hands of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who like Lanza got their firearms indirectly through somebody else who could legally purchase and own them.

And then there’s James Eagan Holmes, the Castroville, California kid who spent his teen years in southern California developing his brain disorders to the point that he was studying them and seeing if he could make a medical career out of it, all the while his disorders were getting worse and worse, even out there in Colorado, where it appeared that multiple situations in his life went wrong all at once and he was using what was left of his faculties and what was not documented in his background to purchase legal firearms and legal fireworks, even so he could plan and execute his rampage on the opening night of a “Batman” movie over at Aurora Mall (what it used to be called when I was a kid growing up in the Aurora Hills across the freeway).

So any reguation out there may be pointless despite any good intentions it may have in keeping the wrong people out there from legally owning a firearm.

It’s not guns that kill people, it’s them little HARD things inside them!!

Then the head of the NRA comes on TV to lie about that.

Madison’s Notes show that the 2nd Amendment was not about letting traitors (see US Constitution Art. III, Sec 3) overthrow the government, but to describe how the constitutional purposes to ensure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defense can be carried out without tyrannical institutions such as standing armies, conscription, and mercenaries. This amendment was in a coma 1861-1865 and 1916-1920, and totally dead since 1941. We now depend totally on the three tyrant’s methods plus massive poverty to cover the pertinent two from the Preamble.

NRA, I respect your need to follow the 2nd amendment and will not deny you that gun you so desperately need…

However, I believe that if you want that gun so badly, you should pay the highest tax allowable by the law to buy the gun, the highest fee for licensure and regular back grounds checks when you renew…and if by chance your precious gun is used to take another human life then you should be held accountable…your child uses the gun and kills another, you will be held accountable; you sell the gun to someone who uses it to take a life, you will also be accountable and so on.

You want that 2nd amendment right…well, with it comes great responsibility.
