    McCain might be a little long in the tooth for Cupid. Can you get heart-shaped viagra with little sayings on them?

    If you’ve BEEN to war and haven’t enjoyed the destruction or killing, or gained handily from the subsequent social and economic mayhem and, therefore, are apt to CRITICIZE the unregulated process of warring — so sorry. You’re not up to the keen and perceptive mental levels of the folk who mostly haven’t been in uniform, let alone the trenches and bomb craters. Note the qualification criterion. I ought to make a knock-over brain surgeon after talking to an emergency room doctor, maybe reading a textbook or two.

    @wmconelly-

    If you’re defending Sen. McCain’s irritable behavior on the grounds he’s been to war and the rest of us haven’t, then I can only say your logic is completely utterly flawed.

    Human beings have the remarkable ability to use their imagination and see beyond their immediate experience to formulate analysis, plans and opinions. While their thinking might not have the emotional depth of someone who’s been thru a war, a person can figure out the effects and consequences of actions. If we could only allow people who have fought (which the largest majority of an army don’t) in a war to have any opinion, then we would be forced to have wars just so we could have decision makers.

    Along these logical lines, no male elected official should ever be allowed to legislate on abortion issues, since it is impossible for any male to give birth. Only women could propose and vote on this legislation. Just sayin !!

    McCain doesn’t have a monopoly on truth because he was a POW. I haven’t been to war, but I have my opinions and the First Amendment allows to present them. His experience doesn’t invalidate my reasoning. That is why we have an open society (yes, that’s another debate for another day) to allow all opinions to air and the collective will determined.

    In summation, I won’t tell my doctor how to proceed in a treatment, but I will expect to be consulted on the decision as to which treatment I want. It’s only fair.

    Crash Dummy McCain is the jerkiest boy of all. If he really wanted to serve our country in a positive way he’d resign. He’s done nothing but waste taxpayer money all his life, time for him to pay higher taxes.

    Neither Einstein, nor Newton, nor Galileo, nor Darwin ever participated in combat, yet somehow they made larger contributions to the human enterprise than all the warriors combined. McCain deserves our respect for his military service – nothing more, nothing less.

    War breaks people, but for some, they become strong at the broken places. In my opinion, McCain (and others like him) has incurable anger in his soul – not because of the war, but because at heart he has a mean, bullying spirit. From Cristie ranting at the WH doctor, to the Fox News screamers in their daily diatribe against Democrats in general and Obama in specific – there’s just too much hatred going on.

    Your comment doesn’t explain McCain’s questioning of Hagel. Both were in war and were in disagreement regarding the Iraq surge. Now what?

    I’l go with the guy who was in war and is less eager to commit to the next one.
