Darsan54’s comment made me look again, and…Is that politician smiling????
Masterkrain- I agree. It is time to use the -Illudium PU-36 Space Modulator on them. Or, maybe your ACME Disintegrating Ray Pistol on a few specific politicians will suffice. I can name 5 from each party that you can target in order to room for open minds.
    Facetiously…mostly,

Certainly the lobbyists should go. Where did that system come from?

I think it would be easier to ban politicians than to get any sort of restriction in place on firearms… so let’s try that first!

    Wow, Omnius.

Nothing can better define the anti gun movement better than your posting.

Oh, and by the way? The Nazi Party was the Nationalist Socialist Party— elected on the platform of more jobs, more benefits, protecting the people from a supposedly violent subgroup, and “taking back” the earnings from one group to distribute to another.

Use of governmental troops to kill the hated sub groups was kind of a natural extension of that hate one group used to define another, and only worked because they took the guns away from that hated group so they couldn’t fight back.

Look in the mirror. You have just parroted the platform the Nazi Party used to put Hitler in power.

Again with the Nazis? I invoke Godwin’s Law on you. All further intelligent discourse on this thread is null and void.

Is there any baser organization in the US than the NRA? What a disgrace to us all.

When the NRA says we’ll get their guns when we “pry them from their cold, dead hands,” my response is “whatever it takes.”

And where does the"learning from history" come in?

This is America. We don’t learn from our history. It’s un-American to even suggest it. You’re either with us or you’re with the terrorists. And by “us” I mean the Republican Party.

“And, by the way, the definition of “An Honest Politician” is ‘One who once he is bought, STAYS bought!’”

I prefer Lyndon Johnson’s approach to Big Donors: “If you can’t take their money, drink their liquor, screw their women, and vote against ‘em anyway, you’ve got no business being in politics.”

It appears that a bit more study of history is needed.

Okay, I’ve read 300 gun control laws, then 20,000 gun control laws, now 50,000 gun control laws. Gosh, these laws just keeping having babies. Do I hear 1,000,000? What about 300,000,000? Or what about a gun control law for every person in the country? Do you all just make these things up? One law would be enough, if it were a good law. I’ve already proposed — everybody gets to own a gun who wants to, but all the guns have to be kept in a central location and they can be checked out only for specific purposes, such as a hunting trip or target practice. Every gun has a GPS chip, and if the gun goes where it’s not supposed to go, it becomes inoperable.

‘we need to get rid of all lobbyists,’
    -
There are tons of lobbyists that do not represent K st. big oil, big pharma, or big anything. They are important for the non-big organizations and businesses to communicate their needs to Congress.
    -
There are rules about who can and cannot be a lobbyist.
    -
There should be at least one rule added— once you are in Congress or work for them, you can never be a lobbyist, and vice versa. There are probably equivalent rules for the administration and judiciary that should also be enacted.
    -
This would AT LEAST close the situation where Jack Abramhoff could offer a lucrative lobbying position to a congressional staffer in exchange for legislative favors.
    -
A few years operating under these rules and Congress’ approval ratings might reach double digits.
