From all the damage, I could barely recognize the middle one as a Republican.

Don’t you understand? He NEEDS that .50BMG anti-materiel rifle in order to hunt the wily and secretive black UN helicopter! He’s never actually seen one, but he knows it’s out there- and he’s gonna bag it!

What is an assault weapon? Any weapon that can kill or injure can be considered an assault weapon! A knife is an assault weapon, a car can be considered an assault weapon. Do you mean assault rifle? Please stop purposely using misleading language!

Picky? There is a huge difference between an “assault rifle” and an “assault weapon”. Civilians normally cannot own an assault rifle. An assault weapon is any weapon that anti gun activists think should be banned. They call them assault weapons so people confuse them with assault riles.

The imaginaries are going to take my guns?
How will I kill my imaginary food? With a shopping cart at the supermarket?
I do hope this is a joke, my family will starve.
Pull out wolf teeth, break bear claws, give me a fighting chance for my lame bolt action .375 H & H to compete.
20 claws, 32 teeth, 4 hooves, a large 30 round magazine is absolutely necessary for the field to be level.

What do you call the gun that killed those children in CT? Riddled their little bodies in seconds. Shall we just say “assault gun” and let it go?

“Have any gun owners actually said they use assault rifles to hunt with? If so, would an assault rifle do that much damage?”
I knew a guy on my second ship who had an M-14 (semi-auto) that he used for hunting. It shoots a .308 round, and he said it was perfect for deer. If it was put in full auto, the 14 will pump out the same rounds, not something that would disentegrate large portions of flesh like depicted. To do that, you’d have to get different ammo. But in full auto, the rifle tends to elevate, making it dificult to stay on target, not a good thing for someone trying to bring down an animal for food. Fully auto is impractical for hunting, and designed for one thing: Putting out lots of rounds to kill lots of people. It’s also incredibly inefficient on the battlefield. The bullet-to-kill ratios in Vietnam, where autos were common, were astronomical, versus WWII, where the average infantry had semi-auto weapons.

Don’t attempt to bury this argument in idiotic semantics. An “Assault Weapoin” is any weapon with exaggerated firepower; often fully automatic, or semi-automatic, with a large magazine (20 rounds or more), intended by design to be a person-killer, usually created for military use. An Uzi or an M-16 or its ilk = Assault Weapon. A revolver or a shotgun = Not an Assault Weapon, even tho’ you can assault someone with it.
You attempt to be vague is ridiculous, as you know exactly what an Assault Weapon is.

Hey, what’s the problem? The animals should have hired armed guards just like the schools.

The cartoon does present a legitimate statement that most hunters already know. You don’t need a cannon or a minigun to hunt. The NRA is really being foolish, but I’m sure Mr. LaPierre is hearing from gun makers who are afraid sales and stock share will suffer if they are unable sell military grade weapons and high capacity clips. One of my neighbors remembered us talking a couple of years ago and I had told him I had a shotgun my grandfather had given me when I was a child…he asked if I still had it. I do, and he didn’t smile at my answer. Maybe I should have told him I hadn’t any ammo for it in the house in four years?
We really need to find middle ground here.
& Have a Happy Safe New Year’s Eve!

“So you are suggesting we ban all semi automatics?”
I’ve heard that argument. Then again, I’ve been told that Canada bans semi-autos (it doesn’t, they’re not even restricted). As CasualBrowser pointed out, automatic weapons are only for one purpose, and gangbangers love them because they can’t shoot worth s**t.
Perhaps instead of banning things left right and centre, we should look at why the US has such a culture of fear. Where people think they need to hide behind guns, and where people think the only way they can deal with their frustrations is to kill themselves and quite possibly take as many out with them as they can.
