People are always resistant to change, even when it’s in their best interest. Add to that the fact that change usually has monetary costs and reactionaries and corporations that will scream to high heaven that those costs are too expensive and unjustified, and you have the conditions for paralysis. We keep falling into this trap in lots of ways, not just agriculture. We seem to have lost the ability to reasonably discuss the pros and cons of changes and then implement the ones that seem best both long and short term.
