In Seattle a popular drive in called Dicks pays about $3 above the state minimum wage of &9.19 per hr. They also assist in tuition for college students who work at the restaurants. Job satisfaction is much higher there & they have a much lower turnover rate. Their prices are quite reasonable going to show you can pay a living wage & still have a profitable business.

Child, grow up and yap idiocy just a little less.
    .
Study, read, listen, do something other than sit at home imagining reasons for things you don’t understand.
Read the comments and address what is being discussed, not making up stuff that was not said and switching to ignorant statements that have nothing to do with the subject.
    .
The subject is wages and money being taken out of the economy, not the relative merits of electric cars and who buys them.
    .
I supose you are trying to be an irritant, so many children are that way, but not most, you are a minority.

Let’s just reinstitute slavery and then employers can dispense with pay and benefits entirely. Why do we need to supplement profitable businesses through social welfare services for their employees.

Employers also say that high wages will means few jobs and put them out of business, but I just see fatter profits. We are paying more for everything every day. However, does business expect us to continue to pay unless pay increases with inflation and productivity improvements.

In-N-Out Burger deliberately pays above minimum wages, around $10/hr. Australian McDonald’s pay their employees around $15/hr and still make a nice profit.

Some of the extra wages would be offset by being able to keep good employees around longer.

“most of the time it is under the table tax free,”

Who do you think is getting paid under the table? Not fast food employees. Even restaurant workers who get tips can’t easily hide that income anymore. The IRS looks at their total sales & assumes they got 15% in tips.

“They then live on 2$ an hour sending most home, out of our economy.”

As opposed to the wealthy investors, who are also sending most of their money out of our economy? Despite your unsupported belief, more money in the pockets of the working class does more for the economy than steering it to the .01%. Even Reagan & Bush knew that!

Did you notice that the second person’s shirt says “Amnesty”?
    []
The second person is an activist protesting the fact that there are people (likely illegal immigrants and others) who are working for well below minimum wage and who would probably love to get $7.50 / hour. Thus, the fast-food workers should be grateful for what they have.

In the course of the 26 comments that I am not going to bother to read, did anyone note that those 11 million are people it is illegal to hire. And that the Repukes are working very hard to deny them green cards (or whatever the equivalent would be if they were to be allowed to stay legally), largely because if they were allowed green cards they wouldn’t be working for $5 an hour.

Mike, are you actually saying that there are folks who will do jobs that Americans won’t? If the folks who are willing to do those jobs went away what would happen? What do you propose doing to the businesses who will employ “those who shouldn’t be here” but will work for less?

For a lot of years the American economy was a rising tide that lifted all boats. The few percent at the top has seen theirs rise several hundred percent lately while the burger flippers have seen their real incomes decline since Reagan.
