Firstly, it should read “Barack” on the stocking as they are all “Obama”. Secondly, at the current price of fossil fuels, a stocking stuffed with grade-A coal might not be the worst gift :-)

Now seriously: nobody wants to “ban coal”, not even here in Germany where we already have what you call “green coal” (that is coal plants that don’t emit sulfur, sooth, mercury, nitrogen oxide). Alas, even we struggle with CO2. Carbon sequestration (liquifying the gas and storing it underground) sounds really stupid to me, from a cost perspective as well as a potential threat to future generations.

So we’re moving to other sources of energy. Wind, solar, hydro are great and rising. Coal is replaced by natural gas (less CO2 for the same energy, and easier to clean the exhaust gases). Fusion power is in the pipeline for 2030 or so. But that’s not what the RWNJs want to hear.

“My grandfather died in a coalmine, my father died in a coal mine, i’m dying of lung cancer from coal dust and my children and grand-children will die of global warming from fossil fuels. That’s how it’s always been, that’s how God wanted it to be” – this could be their credo. What a pity…

It’s “clean” coal. It’s the in thing this season for the Greentard in your life!

Unfortunately for the Greentards they are trapped in a gordian delimma: Solar and wind won’t work… not now, not in 50 years from now, as Germany has already discovered and they are anti-nuclear so they are left with being boxed into the fiction that coal can be made “clean.”
N2N&H is the only cost effective and viable solution to our energy needs for the forseeable future. That is, natural gas to nuclear and moving to hydrogen as a portable fuel. That is the cleanest and most cost effective energy path.
Solar is the absolute worst for costs with wind only being a bit better. But, the Greenies just stick their fingers in their ears and start shouting “LALALALALAL! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!” like petulent six year olds.
So, Obama being a Greentard himself definitely deserves all the coal we can heap on him.

yes nothing you do does not come with out some cost. But the problem is most coal plants are already running at 97-98% clean. The EPA is saying that the billions spent are not enough, we want 99% clean, spend a billion more. Obama says that right, we must bankrupt coal we must bankrupt any and all things CO2 in order to save us from our self and appease the radical environmentalist. Any one who does no share his vision wants dirty air and dirty water, so says the sins of the Church of Global warming. The High priest Al Gory may have stepped down but his legacy of shake down carries on.

Ramirez should find someone else to draw pictures of once or twice a week, you know, exercise some muscles besides his knee jerk.

@MortyForTyrant Coal is replaced by natural gas (less CO2 for the same energy

Natural Gas has far less energy for the same volume then coal. The dems are against fracking to get the natural gas out of the ground. No one has died in the coal mines around here that made the news where I live.I don’t notice any smoke from the coal fired power plants around here either.Steam is often confused with smoke by libs.

As for “global warming”What cause the Holocene Maximum ,a period of much higher temps then now that lasted 3500 years and ended 4000 years ago?Wasn’t caused by people burning fossil fuel or SUV’s.Strange how Otzi ,the mummy found a few years back , frozen in the ice in the Alps.Who died 5000 years ago, could even be frozen in the ice back then if we are to believe the global warming crowd today about how bad global warming will be .Especially since it was much warmer back then ,then now.

Wind (even without subsidies) is now cheaper than coal (which is heavily subsidized) and no it’s not an on demand 24/7, but IS a component of a necessary complex of sources if we’re going to survive. MANAGING coal use is not “banning” coal use, our dirtiest source, even if it’s “clean coal”.

Ignorance is the watchword of “conservative” PR strategies.
