As usual, Ramirez made beautiful artwork. And “Dr. Strangelove” is one of my favorite movies. But how much the hodgepodge of ideas conflict with each other. Major Kong was a sympathetic character. Who would be General Ripper? Wouldn’t Obama better play as President Muffley? An Iranian leader (or Putin) as Premier Kissoff? And who as General Turgidson? (Love those names!) And where would Precious Bodily Fluids fit in? The Doomsday Machine?.I think Ramirez fell in love with the concept, but should have formed it all better. In this case, a thousand-word parody would have been better than this one picture. Or at least multiple panels. I’m probably over-thinking this..But there always seems to be an irritating disconnect between Rameriz’s art and his background message. He almost always preaches to the choir, his conservative base. It’s tiresome to me. Still, I respect his work enough to make what I think are constructive comments.
