As usual, Ramirez made beautiful artwork. And “Dr. Strangelove” is one of my favorite movies. But how much the hodgepodge of ideas conflict with each other. Major Kong was a sympathetic character. Who would be General Ripper? Wouldn’t Obama better play as President Muffley? An Iranian leader (or Putin) as Premier Kissoff? And who as General Turgidson? (Love those names!) And where would Precious Bodily Fluids fit in? The Doomsday Machine?
    .
I think Ramirez fell in love with the concept, but should have formed it all better. In this case, a thousand-word parody would have been better than this one picture. Or at least multiple panels. I’m probably over-thinking this.
    .
But there always seems to be an irritating disconnect between Rameriz’s art and his background message. He almost always preaches to the choir, his conservative base. It’s tiresome to me. Still, I respect his work enough to make what I think are constructive comments.

i’d take that statement with a grain of salt. if iran is such a threat then why did we get rid of our buddy who kept them in cheque?

obama said you could keep your plan if you like it. cheney said deficits don’t matter. just a little brinkmanship and saber rattling

If you mean Hussein, well, that’s simple: Our President at the time wanted to one-up Daddy, and the VP’s company stock needed a boost.
Future consequences? That’s someone else’s problem!

Meanwhile, Sheldon Adelson (you know, the Republican mover and shaker who kept Newt Gingrich’s Presidential campaign going well past its expiration date) advocated for firing a nuclear weapon into the desert “that doesn’t hurt a soul” as some sort of “warning shot” for Iran.
I’m really just waiting to hear someone say “let’s nuke ’em all and then go in and take the oil”.

The connection I made here was both the movie character and the President are mindlessly, blithely following a policy regardless of obvious consequences. The difference is that the movie character got the full “blast” of his actions (if I may) and the President never will.

Isn’t that the same reasoning as the idea that more guns save lives?

Ok how did we get there from Iran having the bomb? The brinkmanship I see but the stuff about President Obama.

just pointing out that heads of state lie all the time. just because iran said they would strike first does not mean that they will.

Well, Grain of Salt, what’s giving them to political entities and corporations then? Seems to me that you have little problem with any number of countries having them. Why limit it to just governments by your reasoning?
