I suppose there are several artistic and satirical reasons Ramirez copied the famous picture of the 1986 Challenger explosion, but it made me sad to see it used this way.

This has been a troublesome event in a very important enterprise.
The sheer scope of nationalized healthcare in a country of 300 million people is staggering. It simple has never been attempted before. No one, even remotely, KNOWS how to do this.
I submit that with something so involved, massive, and costly, all effort should be made to get it right. Obamacare may be the best thing for the people but starting off the way it has causes concern.
First it written with zero bi-partisanship…zero. The opposition party was locked out.
Second, the way it was passed was borderline illegal, pushed thru by the party in power without a single vote from the opposition.
Third, it survives in a legal limbo due to a convoluted Supreme Court ruling. How can it be a tax when it wasn’t designed, created, written or passed as a tax?
Fourth, it isn’t being implemented as written, there’s too many waivers and exemptions to count.
Fifth, this website is a disaster. Even die hard supporters must see that no one should have confidence in putting private info. on this site.
Sixth, this Admin. insistence that all is well. Please, treat us like adults, all is not even remotely well.
Seventh, at least half the population doesn’t want anything to do with it.
Please let us insist that something this important has a solid foundation. Without which we will be forever implementing fix after fix, spending billions we don’t have.
If this is to be the law of the land, we owe it to future
generations to get it as right as possible.
In my very wordy opinion, we are failing miserably.

An accurate but hardly appropriate parody.

No, it took repeated disasters for them to abandon it.

I love Ramirez’ cartoons ordinarily, but absolutely agree with most on here: This is not funny and inappropriate.

To those who actually support Obummercare, the pie-in-the-sky polititians, staffers, lobbiests, beaurocrats, and useful idiot fellow travelers; I must say thee NAY!! This administration(2009-2017) is about to harvest its commuppance in the ’14 elections, which, HOPEFULLY such abomination will be swept away as the trash that they have shown themselvesto be.

Obamacare is more deadly than the Challenger tragedy.
There are 300 million Americans at risk with this first step into Socialized Federal Healthcare.
The worst “glitch” was voters re-electing a proven radical.

There was truly only one “disaster”. There were some things that could have gone better, but NASA’s accomplishments, especially considering the harsh environment of space, were astonishing. To say nothing of what NASA’s research contributed to society, like the integrated circuit and the fuel cell.

However, a large segment of our society is moving away from science, since it appears to offend their religious/faith-based philosophies. It is telling that we now not only exempt churches from taxes, but we have created (and funded) an office for “faith-based service” while reducing or killing projects that advance science.

I have got to agree with you, I was stationed in germany at the time, I remember a guy just came into mine and my roommates room with out knocking looking as white as a sheet saying the space shuttle just blew up.

Horrible, disgusting cartoon, Ramirez. You should be ashamed. Giving people a chance at health insurance is in NO WAY comparable to the devastation and loss of life you depict. Gross, ugly, hateful.

Shuttles haven’t flown since 2011 – a rare case of a government program that was terminated once it stopped meeting its goals economically. Also, the shuttle program was developed over a 12 year period before being launched, not cobbled together in closed-door Congressional sessions, shoved down our collective throats in a midnight vote, and “implemented” in 3 years.
