    Only Roberts said it was a tax. The other 4 used the commerce clause.

    But Rockngolfer, Roberts is clearly the spokesman for Obama. Ramirez must have it right when he connects Roberts words to any word bubbles he wants to put in front of Obama. Why else would a cartoonist do that?

    @Rockngolfer

    The ruling said it was a tax and the other four signed off on it, Rockngolver can you show me where you learned that.

    That being said; Yes Obama is a big fat liar and here he is doing just that!

    Also the act was defended in the supreme court as a tax.

    Right Michael, who needs decent healthcare? That mean old Obama, trying to improve the standard of living of the middle class and the lower class.

    The congressional tax authority gives them the power to levy a fine in the case of not having insurance coverage (Which, we need to point out, was originally a Rebubblecan plan to protect the insurance companies!). It isn’t a tax, but a fine. It falls under congressional tax authority… too subtle a point for most voters, I’m sure…

    Lets take you comment to the right wing. Now that government can order us to buy private property and services what is an issue the political right would use this new power on.

    The lower and middle class has to deal with more crime then the upper class so lets order people to buy weapons, something no smaller then say a .380 semi auto. Not a big round but still kind of powerful. Then if they refuse tax them.

    People need to be able to defend themselves in there own homes right.

    I know I am being a little sarcastic but just about anything the Supreme Court does works both ways.

    If you want the government to do it or not.

    Well, if you buy insurance, as you should, you won’t have to pay anything extra. If you don’t, you’ll have to pay a penalty. It’s the same system today as two days ago. I have to say the the argument seems to be about names rather than about things. And Obama wasn’t lying if he (reasonably) considered it a penalty rather than a tax. Romney didn’t call it a tax in Massachusetts, either. Ramirez draws so well, but he has no intelligence above his elbow.

    So, is Roberts an idiot because he thiks this is a tax, or because he faild to see th unconstitutionality of this?

    What? Got any facts to back up your wild accusations? And nice move to avoid what’s coming: health care rationing. The only way to save money on healthcare is to not buy it. The only people buying healthcare are the sick. Hmmm. I wonder where the cost savings will come from? Take a long hard ook at Canadian and British heakthcare and tell yo you like what you see. There’s a reason Canadians cross into the US to see a doctor.

    I don’t think Roberts is an idiot. I usually disagree with his decisions, but I don’t have to think that people are idiots just because I don’t agree with them. I think he engaged in judicial parsing. What is a tax? Something everyone is liable to pay (though for one reason or another some people may be exempt)? Then I’m not sure this counts as a tax, since most people won’t have to pay it, since they will be paying for their own insurance. Or is a tax something administered through the IRS? Then it is a tax. In Ontario, it’s clearly a tax, because you pay it as part of your general tax bill and there’s no other way to pay it. Legal definitions are not always the same as ordinary language. For example, is a corporation a person?

    This is fun. The ONLY thing the Republicans have left to criticize is whether or not it’s a tax.

    Pretty desperate!
