Sounds good until you max them out….happened to me back in the early 90s. Had a contract not renewed by my employer, then had to live off unemployment and charge cards for 7 months. By the time i found work, my cards were almost maxed out, and the job i took involved a move, and a $10,000 downward relocation of my salary. Unfortuately, my bills did NOT relocate downward accordingly. Took me a decade to finally dig my way out, and had to liquidate one retirement fund to do so.

So, not the best way unless the cards will be used to finance job searches…..

Well said Boyd. Savages indeed. Martinis will help every thing, at least for awhile !

This is all pre-Annie, sadly. The strips were restarted quite a while back.

I was so there, John K. Just when you think you’re a little ahead of the game, life throws you a pink slip.

This story thread is actually new. I reworked it from the original story when Lila got a job at GetGo Insurance. I didn’t like that thread and changed it, especially given our country’s current unemployment problem. I wanted to recognize and pay tribute to those who are unemployed right now. Unfortunately, this thread will end but many still remain unemployed after months and years… Let’s all send them positive thoughts!

    Spend more than you make.
Borrow more than you can pay back.

I knew I hadn’t seen this before. I’m glad you will write them a happy ending (like Norm Feuti did for Cooper when he had no insurance and needed an appendectomy) and I do pray and send good wishes to everyone needing jobs!

true that for me also, plus the disappearance of my 401k in the 2008-2009 crash. i’m still trying to climb out of the hole – will never retire.

Too bad that Boyd is gay – they make a great couple. I think they are mutually supportive and be one of the increasingly rare couples that enjoy a long marriage.
