You already have Medicaid and don’t pay taxes, so of course you wouldn’t mind “freebies” for everybody.

According to a link to Kliff’s blog by Douthat, Oregon sent out 260,000 notices to people that they qualified for Medicaid, and only had to call, but only 56,000 responded. If the rest of the 260,000 just pick up their phones and call, Oregan will have cut its rate of uninsured by 50%.

Fortunately, the Supreme Court said each state must decide for itself if it will expand Medicaid, and the majority of states refused, unlike Oregon. We don’t want the uninsured getting Medicaid with nothing but a phone call.

Because the private sector NEVER uses substandard products in order to cut costs. NEVER EVER EVER.

One of the best options right now is to wait while the system is brought up to speed.

How long? There is not enough valid information available for me to try to make a reasonable guess. We can be sure that an enormous effort is under way to correct this abysmal start. So yes at this juncture waiting is a good option, a logical option.

God forbid Republicans actually engage in improving anything. The New England Journal’s Perspectives section has valid criticisms, observations, and suggestions for improving the ACA. www.nejm.org
