“No use passing laws, the criminals won’t obey them”.
That little piece of idiocracy is actually an argument from the ignoratti of the right. I’m not kidding. They really say that. You can look it up.

“Adam Lanza, the shooter who killed 26 people, mostly small children, used a assault type rifle, a Bushmaster XM15-E2S, to fire 154 shots in 5 minutes. Mr. Lanza shot the 20 children and 6 adults, first from a distance and then at close range, often as many as 11 times.”
    Just sayin’…

The “rational right” was last seen under Ike out in “public”. With Reagan’s “absent without leave” during his presidency, the radicals took more power, even GHW who still had a modicum of intellect left, gave up. In came “W”, and crew, and their pendulum got stuck on that ledge far, far, “stage right”, and the play goes on, with only bad actors in the lights.

So…..(sorry had to laugh) …. can you give me some proof that if you pass additional legislation – concerning any illegal activity – that criminals then decide to adhere to the law?

OH, and I think mapping the brain is a good idea and that the government should fund it.

OK so having one 30 round magazine is different than having 3 ten round magazines how? He shot 154 rounds in 5 minutes. I have a pistol that I have 10 round magazines for. 5 of them. So I would have to carry 15 mags to shoot 150 rounds. Or one rifle – not currently called an assault rifle – with 15 ten round mags.

    Check out this video.

In the demo (at the 3:25 mark), the two demonstrators empty a 30 round mag with the weapon in both in just over 17 seconds seconds. Later on you see that changing mags does not significantly reduce her “time” in shots fired. For the “pro” changing 10 rd mags added 1.4 seconds, the “non-pro” added just over 8 seconds.

So either could have done the same as Lanza in just over 2 minutes “while changing 10 round magazines”.

HOW do you make people more safe by limiting magazine capacity?

So the school killer would’ve had to carry 15 magazines instead of five. Why make it easier for psychos to kill as many people as possible? So a non-pro perp at (say) a movie theater or mall would be changing mags at a rate of 8 seconds each (assuming he’s doing it all at once, and after firing all rounds in a magazine) would cost at least two minutes. ’think some of the victims could escape or fight back during that time?

No my brother look again. It took the non-pro woman 8 addition seconds to run through 3 magazines having to eject and reinsert twice. So you have about 3-4 seconds there to make your move. Good luck. And remember, these poor sick individuals that would go into a school and murder innocent babies that are not able to defend themselves and have NO adults prepared to do it either, PRACTICE.

so four seconds of slack time between mags – IF the person stumbles and does not have a practiced routine in ejecting/loading magazines would be less than a minute total in 4 second intervals. (4×14 = 56 seconds. remember, the first mag is already in there)

Care to try to answer the question?

HOW do you make people more safe by limiting magazine capacity?

You can say it’s better to have a 30-round magazine and not need it, than to need it and not have it. But what do you need a high capacity magazine for? Multiple intruders? An extremely rare occurrence. The guv’mint is gonna attack? Crawl into the realm of preppers in Idaho, then. You said yourself that you can reload mags quickly, so if you’re on the defense, it should be no problem.
The purpose of high capacity magazines is to kill as many people as possible, in as short amount a time as possible. What is the weight of 15 ten-round magazines vs. 5 thirty-round magazines? Probably not insubstantial, and it’d not be exactly portable or convenient to fire and manuever with all that bulky weight.
If you’re guarding your home you have stockpiles and not going anywhere – you’re on the defense. If you’re out to kill people, you are the attacker and hunting them down. In the people-hunting role, the more high-capacity mags you have, the better.
You said it yourself, that you can reload 10-round magazines quickly. If you’re stalking people on the go, you have to carry it all, so limiting the magazine size increases the logistics and hassle factor. Again, why make it easy for the attacker?
