This technology is evil and causes men to do evil things. It is time to turn back the clock and return to those days of peace and plenty before the decadent technologies of the sixth century polluted mankind. There can be no Happy New Year when all peace and prosperity is in the past. How many were killed by the inappropriate use of computers? Wait. Forget I asked that one. Different thing. A gun is designed not for defense, but for criminal destruction of life. Computers are only used for crime by criminals.

But isn’t a scene like the Boali machete massacre against the nomadic Fuli prefereable? If they had guns, they would have killed those twelve people much more horribly. Mankind can be saved, though, if only they will give up all technology. I saw it in a book by John Norman about the planet on the other side of the Sun. I think it was called Gor. Why, even thinking of firearms would cause these peaceful people’s brains to melt.

International statistic: the countries with the fewest guns ‘in circulation’ have the lowest death by fire arms rates.

Just 35,000 unwilling human sacrifices on the altar of the great gods “2nd amendment”, “concealed carry”, and “stand your ground”.

Not all would be criminal. Generally, 50-60% of deaths by fire arms are suicides. Some can be accidental, too.

If you want to live in some of the lowest per capita places of gun ownership; such as, Timor-leste, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, and North Korea. Go ahead, we won’t stop you. I have also heard that they have pretty high homicide rates. Even Columbia, Honduras, and El Salvador have less guns then the US per capita, but have some of the highest rates of violent crimes. Therefore, it is not necessarily related to the number guns, but the morals and culture of the country.

Real fact, Chicago has “tough gun laws”, but folks can drive a few miles and get their guns and come home. Miami has very LENIENT “gun laws” (as does Florida, which is very PRO-gun). Miami has far more gun death per 100,000 population than Chicago, and more violent crime. (Don’t be lazy, look the stats up for yourself at DOJ and other crime monitoring sites.)

Lott’s premise doesn’t hold up on examination. Check the statistics for Japan, Australia, even less restrictive nations than them, and you’ll see the facts. “Local” regulation, like D.C. or Chicago aren’t actually relevant, as guns are readily available, and gee, we have cars to transport bad guys, and their firearms. Also, it is HAND GUNS, NOT “assault rifles”(I don’t like the term either) that actually are responsible for the most harm. Check on the killings of police officers for example, and hand guns are overwhelmingly the weapon used. BTW, speaking of that, the reduction in deaths of law enforcement officers is the result of body armor, NOT so much a reduction in shootings. Also, it’s significant that a vast majority of police officers retire without ever firing their weapons except on the firing range. “Gang bangers” however, tend to use the streets for their “range”.

Start with Somalia, destroy every gun there first
Then Mexico, they’re already illegal there so it should be easy
Get back with me after you’ve finished the simple jobs and we’ll discuss China, Syria, Afghanistan, . . .

I’m sure you are wrong. I have it all right here in a pamphlet from my local community organizer, titled “Why the mewling masses should live in mud huts and support the luxury and power of the Ruling Party”.

That’s a lot like the statistic that shows that countries with democratized industrial capitalism engage in zero hostilities among themselves and that totalitarian governments where citizens are not allowed to own guns engage in hostile international disputes. I don’t expect the former conquering Empire of Great Britain to allow armed citizenry soon, though, even if they have given up conquest.
