Sorry Maria, but that may be a postpartum wait. (or is it weight?)

    Of course it’s safe.

This reminds me of the time when my brother and I set off on an interstate highway to go to a hamburger joint. It was the only route we knew. I was 4 and my brother 6 and we had been locked out extra early with nothing to eat. I can never remember a time when we weren’t locked out. My dad now tells me that they had stationed him unusually far away that day, about 60 miles from home, which emboldened my mother – normally we would have gotten some toast in the morning. A state trooper picked us up and called my mother over to the car but she was too overcome with emotion and drove by crying. So he wisely took us to the police station until my dad came from work. Let me tell you it’s not like the old, friendly cop TV shows. No one even looked at us, much less talked to us while we were put in a small room by ourselves. When my dad brought us back home it was much too dangerous to go inside, of course. So we hid in a big tree like Maria here. Later that evening Dad gazed up into the tree to tell us it was safe.
