Yeah, Maria. The only beans you’re gonna see are the ones you’re full of.

They aren’t quite big enough to handle a lawn mower, otherwise they could get into the lawn care trade.

Sure this isn’t Rita? Because this would be a good example of a Rita/Jay joke on the other strip.

Um.. we’ve answered that over and over and over. No, we’re not sure. We have no idea. It’s only our strip, so naturally you must know better than we do. No. She. Is. Not. Rita. We developed this strip LONG before I was drawing Working Daze, and Rita was not quite the same then.Okay? Or are you going to ask again next week?

Sorry for flying off he handle, but the question is getting tiresome. John likes to write this kind of character dynamic, but this gag might have worked for Angelica and Chuckie too. I was drawing Maria like this when Kyle Miller was still giving Rita a ponytail, so the resemblance means nothing more than me drawing the way I draw. If this were Rita and Jay, the strip would be set 40 years in the past. And I doubt they knew each other as kids. Forget what Flintstones Kids taught us. We don’t grow up on the same street as everybody we’ll know all throughout life.
