    I’m in Southern Delaware, but I know the area where John lives. We used to have a family cottage on one of the Finger Lakes.

    Me too, Joey!

    Interesting! I thought you guys were close (location) to each other. How did you pair up then?

    @johnzakour

    Just finished reading The Doomsday Brunette and The Plutonium Blonde; I’m awaiting arrival of my order from Powell’s of the other five books. Sorry I had to buy used copies. If there’s a way I can pay you your royalties (paypal?), let me know using a Facebook message (I am a fan of yours there, first name is Fritz).

    John and I started working together on The Rugrats strip a decade ago. I was hired as a gag writer in 1998, and later became a penciler as well. John was brought on when we needed more writers. When the Rugrats strip ended in 2003, we decided we could still work together, and started looking for projects. Maria was the first we developed, but it took another ten years for it to finally get out there. But these aren’t the old samples- they’re all newly drawn- usually way too close to deadline! So nope, we don’t share a studio or anything like that.

    And we were a few hours closer when we started out. We were both in New York State. John way north, and me way south.

    There’s no snow, so I can’t wait to find out what the heck Maria is thinking! Shaving a bag of ice cubes maybe? Use mashed potatoes in lieu of snow? Hmmm…

    The mind boggles…. but I’m sure it will be fun… at least for us, Joey? probably not so much….

    For Joey hes is exhibiting a condition called “morbid fascination” in this case with wondering how Maria will accomplish her snow man making mission when it is too warm out.
