    Dodgeball— aka, bully time! Dueling should be legal again . . .

    Too many adults simply forget what childhood was like and paint a rosy picture with little basis in experience. Then they go about believing that children have happy playtime dreams and are pure and sweet and will teach us all the way to universal love. Maria and Joey will tell them otherwise.

    Thanks for saying that! I thought I was the only one who didn’t love childhood. Sure, it was fun running around with little responsibility, but there was a lot I worried about also and not all of my memories are happy and carefree. Although, oddly enough, I did like dodgeball. LOL!

    I loved my childhood, I was too big to be bullied, and to stupid to bully.

    Actually I liked childhood so much I didn’t want to grow up. I’d just like to go back and edit out the bad stuff! But I didn’t care for any sports. I was a daydreamer. I wanted to draw and tell stories. But I do know that childhood is full of fears and doubts and dangers. CandyLand it ain’t. refer to my comic book Patty-Cake for the truth.

    Indeed – when I think back it isn’t so surprising that kids can’t wait to grow up to escape their demons. Only then they discover a whole new breed awaiting – plus the bullies grew up too….

    Here’s the trick to surviving dodge ball. Throw the ball lightly and be the first one out.

    I’ll be so glad when/if people get over the idea that anything in this strip is supposed to refer to Working Daze.

    @lanman03

    This strip was already in development before I was working on Working Daze. Yes, it’s a separate entity- not the WD characters as kids. That’s just a bad, network TV concept.

    I don’t get it - we all played dodgeball when I was a kid and it was no big deal. I was one of the smallest kids and that was the only game I was good at.

    Depends on the kid. There are a lot of Joey’s out there. And there are lot of kids who do enjoy the game. This one is for the Joey’s.

    Apparently Joey doesn’t have your dodgeball skills. :)
