This may be the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers! It’s as if Dallas was cancelled after J.R. got shot.

Okay, okay… in my farewell message the other day, perhaps I shouldn’t have said I wouldn’t be posting Mad Mouse ANY LONGER. It’s more accurate to say ’I’m suspending my work as a daily strip artist.’ My current subscription doesn’t expire until June something – 6th, I think. So… why not continue to post random stuff I think you might enjoy until that day comes? I have a few more ‘Color-Rewinds’ I’ve started on, so look for those to continue the next few Sundays. AND… I’d like to get some honest opinions on the direction I’m taking MM for my attempt at Graphic Noveldom. Like this one today. You see that nothing has changed except for the layout. This page, of course, needs some cleaning up, but you get the gist of it. This page is the size of a Manga comic, basically a 5 × 7 ‘pocket-size’ like the old "Peanuts’ paperbacks. I want to go with a strip, or a couple of panels only per page with the strongest panel from the scene ‘blown up’ as a background and fully bleeding off the page. This modernizes the look (I think, from MY research) and gives the artwork a chance to create more drama… or melodrama, I think is a better term for MM. I refuse to go into a different style of drawing, or coloring… I’m not going to spend hour upon hour photoshopping this stuff with gradients and shadows and what not, because … well because I can’t. I don’t know how, ok?! It really needs to stay Mad Mouse anyway… not become The Dark Knight. It’s still an off-beat comedy and should be presented in that way. It’s more Scooby Doo than Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I just want to be published kids. I’m not a sell-out. If I was, I’d be penciling somebody else’s comic book for a wage. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I probably couldn’t do that either. I’m limited. Mad Mouse is all I got. This attempt could possibly kill me, or at least drive me insane if I don’t balance it properly. I’m just giving it the ‘old college drop-out try’. I’ll still be around for awhile then… so feel free to toss up your opinions. I’m always happy for the input.

Hi shy… sorry I haven’t returned your email of well wishes. I’ll just say what I have to say here in front of everybody… I’m gonna miss you, kid. You’ve always been my favorite – and you know I’ve said that before, so don’t go thinking I’ve just been hitting the boysenberry schnapps. I’ll be in touch. You ain’t seen the last of me OR my ugly mice. Take care, shy… I LUV U!!!
