MAC’s tinkering habit got slightly out of control. He was a handyman to neighbors and friends, one thing led to another and now he’s a (self-described), land baron. More a corporal than a captain of industry, he believes he’s in charge of his own destiny. His wife, daughter, dog, tenants, and practically everyone else in the world has a different, and occasionally sympathetic understanding of his foibles. And I know a few guys who would have handed over the whole thing for a divorce— and a few women who would have taken the divorce and let him keep the money, too.
