MAC’s tinkering habit got slightly out of control. He was a handyman to neighbors and friends, one thing led to another and now he’s a (self-described), land baron. More a corporal than a captain of industry, he believes he’s in charge of his own destiny. His wife, daughter, dog, tenants, and practically everyone else in the world has a different, and occasionally sympathetic understanding of his foibles. My mother used to tell me the barber shouldn’t charge my uncle as much for a haircut because he didn’t have that much hair. I hope she never said that to him.
