Leticia: Neil, you seem to enjoy life! What's your secret? Neil: I like to keep in mind that a disaster could happen at any moment! A deadly tornado could suddenly rip us all to shreds! There could be a catastrophic nuclear explosion! Or an asteroid could hit hte earth and wipe us all out! Knowing I could die at any moment helps me to appreciate this moment right now! Leticia: What an interesting method for appreciating life, Neil.... Clare: Whoops. Neil: ...Although I can see a downside.

1) Anthropogenic Global Warming (Hot House Earth – see Permian extinction)

3)Poisoned oceans (anoxic dead zones expanding)
4)Pandemics from biological warfare
5)Oceans acidifying and being reduced to Cambrian style system
There are more that I can’t think of at this time.
