Do they still teach it in school? Or is it a combo cursive/texting class? Seems kids text 90% of their messages. Well, many adults too I spose :P

My 10-year-old learned cursive back in second grade, all their subsequent work has to be in cursive. I use the computer more than her – she’d rather curl up and read a book. She devours books like Grover devours cookies. There IS hope for the next generation.

Yes! I do. And I can read cursive, as long as it is not written by an M.D.

Some schools still do, but many schools have phased it out due to it becoming increasingly obsolete in our digital society.

I always hated cursive. It takes too long to read it. In third grade I was happy for a short time that we were finally learning it, but then I decided it was a hassle and a headache.

I’ve overheard parents talking, concerned that, because of keyboarding, their kids aren’t learning any kind of handwriting..

I never once used cursive in college. Yes I did turn in hand written assignments.

If they have little use for it of course they wouldn’t understand it. You do know how to shoe a horse right?

I prefer typing myself. Easier for everyone to read, easier to do it.

Don’t you use cursive when you write a check?
    Wait?
Do people still pay with checks?
I wrote a lot of them when I was still working and the company wanted them written out in a very specific fashion…no spaces.

Only to sign my name. The moment they stopped requiring cursive for our written assignments in school, I switched pack to printed handwriting. Print is easier to read.
