Minimum wage is supposed to be a training wage for people who are unskilled, to give them the opportunity to learn work skills. It was never intended to be able to support a family.

And still, like Night-G said, many people do it because there’s nothing else. Even people with degrees often have to work ’em.
I had two study buddies in some of my classes. One had a degree in geography, the other was something similar too, I think. Yet here they were both taking classes for associate degree nursing. Lots of jobs there!
