If a theater tries to show Birth of a Nation, the polital correctness thugs threaten to burn the theater.

Ah yes a movie glorifying the thugs in sheets called the KKK. See “PC” is dredged up by those who miss the old days of racism unopposed and sexism was politically correct and if you didn’t like it or agree with it you were ‘politely’ warned to shut up.

Racism aside, DW Griffith made some inovations in cinematography.

I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t seen that one. I did give “Intolerance” a try, but silent movies….hm. It sounds exactly like Night-G describes: “portraying the KKK as a heroic force”. WOW!

Wow. Entirely irrelevant, defensive, and dysfunctional. I think we know what the movie is about, and we aren’t impressed by your proving that you know what it is. The point was that if it were shown today, for whatever reason (and it might be legitimately screened for its historical value) it would be more likely to incur violence from the more extremist wings, rather than lawful, peaceful, protest.

Of course, the most violent protests would most likely come from Democrats, who have spent the last 50 years trying to obscure the fact that the Ku Klux Klan originated as the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party, and it was Republicans who freed the slaves and have always been at the vanguard of civil rights.

WOW, what are you talking about?! One of the main issues I have with your post is that the Republican party and Democrat party underwent a total role reversal. I don’t like to get into politics, but even I know that. Just look at the parties today. Do you honestly think Romney would’ve freed slaves, or that Obama would’ve taken part in the KKK? That’s only one example.

Right! Most Republicans today do not care or think about women and minorities. The majority of their policies are to our disadvantage.

Thank you for speaking up about this as well. I usually hate to speak about this kind of thing, in comments about a comic no less!; but I have to speak up when it’s this kind of a falsehood. So sorry, PennyFanClub : /

I found out there is a sequel to “Birth of a Nation” but can’t think of the title off hand. One should view such films with a critical eye and knowledge of the times.

Talk about defensive you certainly are. And yes we know the Democrats originally were Dixiecrats and how they all moved to the Republicans in recent times who took them in with open arms. Don’t you forget it.

Yep yep, mentioned that in my first post. I’d heard of that one before, “Intolerance”. An attempt to make amends for “Birth of a Nation” :P
