Brad, give it a second thought. Don’t be hasty!

Judging by the huge oil spill under the front in yesterday’s last panel, perhaps a more appropriate name would be Cafe Valdiz.

Brad is not a mechanic. He worked on his car, but that was just typical teenage boy stuff. TJ conned him into buying a car once they were going to fix up and sell for a profit. I think it cost Brad about $800 before he finally gave up on it and had it towed away. I am curious how much this is going to cost Brad.

He sees lots of hot greasy work with little pay in it for him.

TJ isn’t a shyster anymore. If TJ agrees to pay for all the necessary parts. Then this could be a good investment for Brad. However, I’d want that partnership agreement in writing and notarized! ;-)

Well, Brad, consider some work on TJ’s truck to be part giving back to TJ for all the years of gourmet cooking he’s done for you.

Simple enough to verify. Brad, look the engine over for a few minutes, then say to TJ, “Alternators shot. It will cost about $350 for a good rebuilt one for this kind of vehicle. I’ll go watch TV until you get back with it.”
Now, does TJ sprint to Auto Zone and put in his order, or does he say to Brad, “That means your half is $175.”

If TJ is dipping into his trust fund for this, he needs to go a little deeper. In the long run he would probably be better of spending another 5 to 6 thousand and get a newer model with a 100,000 less miles on it than spending 3 to 4 thousand on patchwork repairs.

Are you related to a church kitty from Crozet, Virginia? She owns a human named The Very Reverend Herbert Jones with two other kitties; Elocution and Catsenova.

Brad should make it clear that his 50% investment in this venture would be the labor in getting the truck repaired.

If TJ is willing to give up a percentage of his business in exchange for getting the van in good enough shape to be a serviceable catering truck, then he might be better off making the proposal to Toni. I think she might be a better mechanic than Brad.
