    That lung looks too pink… maybe he coughed up the wrong one… A heavy smokers lung is dark brown toward black in color.

    I thought filtered cigarettes are worse because they make you inhale deeper?

    This is where I began using the phrase “Horking up a lung”!

    @BartJ385

    They say filtered are worse because of the deeper inhales and the fibers from the filter itself may be harmful to your lungs, I’m glad I quit.

    We have some real crazies on the California Air Resources
    Board that runs ads saying that the 2nd hand smoke from a fire causes cancer just like cigarettes. No proof but they say it anyway. They should be outlawing cigarettes but are
    seduced by the cigarette tax money flowing in to the coffers.

    18 years and one day ago, I quit smoking. Except for the 60 extra pounds (hey, EVERYTHING tastes SO DARN GOOD now!), best thing I ever did since I married for the third time.

    I believe it. (Worked for some years with a fish regulatory agency down there) It’s like the early 2000s CA “public service” ads claiming how drinking coffee, or a soda, or changing the radio station were just as dangerous as being on a cell phone.
    .
    Ummm. Even ignoring the statistics, it made no sense: people don’t spend 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes staring at the radio or staring at a soda while driving.
    .
    Typical PSA, though. We’ve had some real winners in recent months in Oregon. Things are silly, or just plain wrong, or make you wonder where the brains were.
    .
    One “drunk driving” commercial had two kids playing on a primary highway IN THE MIDDLE of the ROAD on a blind curve, and thus a completely sober driver would have had little chance to miss them.
    .
    Another had a motorcycle without lights, but it was supposedly a motorist’s fault for not seeing the motorcycle as it approached at a high mach number. That such is impossible and would have not only have flipped the car multiple times, but it would have completely destroyed the car from the impact didn’t seem to enter the thinking of the outfit producing the PSA.
    .
    Here was a reaction to some of the truly idiotic ones:
