Shine is clear. The bottle obviously has a dark liquid in it, at least until Frank drains it all.

Depends on what it’s made of. Apple jack is the easiest, using freeze distillation (let the apples ferment for a week or two, then put the barrel out where it will freeze, then removing the ice). Several types of alcoholic slop are cloudy or discolored. Samogan supposedly is yellow and cloudy. Some russian/soviet vodka from years past had paper added to it.
