    Gentlefolk, I welcome you, although you have come a bit early and I haven’t had the chance to remove the rollers from my hair. Make yourselves comfortable while I repair to the powder room. You’ll be perfectly safe — they’re not due to eat for another 15 minutes, and by the time I’ve completed my ablutions, we should have 30 or 40 seconds to spare.
