    Ok tired of this. 13 is not an unlucky number. It was one of the details the christians changed when converting everyone they could from pagan to their way.

    Never heard a gender-based explanation before. I always assumed that cats in general were deemed evil (and still are by many today) for their untamable amoral behavior, and black simply represented the dark side. Incidentally, British tradition holds black cats to be OK and white cats not.

    There is a lot of information out there even some christian pages that negate the idea that 13 is unlucky, and pointing to biblical excerpts to back it up.

    This was all pretty interesting. So not just a christian thing but a large part.

    As far as their constant fear based campaign against women I agree Debbie Jordan, but they are not the only religion or culture who have promoted misogyny. As we have seen in even the last 10 years, attitudes are changing. Slower than we need but….Compassion and prayer for the victims and hope that those responsible for evil and thoughtlessness will see that their lives would be easier without harming others.
