Mr. Kallaugher is one of the more talented illustrators in GC. The cartoon is also accurate. Mr. Obama’s efforts to appeal to the moderate Ds and Rs simply draws the loud and inevitable protests of the fringe groups and the media, as usual, focuses their cameras on whoever is the loudest and most divisive, thereby making Americans feel that is the majority opinion in the Congress and in the Nation as a whole.
    Good cartoon. Bad politics.

From what I’ve read of Ryan’s budget there is considerable indiscriminate slash and burn done for political purposes. This strikes me as a very poor basis on which to base your budget and is not in the best interests of the nation.

I’ve only read the first part of Obama’s budget and scanned parts of the rest, and it appears that the increases and decreases in spending he is proposing are based more on his personal philosophy (another poor basis for a national budget) than the needs of the country.

These budgets are so far apart in their philosophies that I fear compromise will not be reached on the basis of dollar amounts and usefulness but by loud squeaking and artful deception.

You always present such well founded and researched points, Mikefive.
I would only suggest that a bigger threat to compromise is not philosophy, but in how each parties want voters to perceive the candidates in the next two elections. The Rs and Ds have become so tribal in their behavior to one another, it is only through massive input from voters, such as we’ve seen in the recent efforts to pass background check legislation, that anything at all gets done. And sadly, the legislators and media keep us from making that massive effort by keeping us divided and rude to one another.
God KNOWS I’d never support ANY position that __________ might take!
Conserves and Liberals will fill the blank in as they will.
Thank you for making the GC forum a better place to read mike. Even when I disagree with something you say, you make it easy to respect the position from which you say it.

Obama’s Budget #5 is just a small step in his overall Plan to ruin America the Great.
    Obama claims to have graduated from Columbia U in 1983;
the author of the above article spent 4 years and graduated from Columbia in 1983 and never heard of or saw Obama although both were pre-law and poly-sci.
For 4 years the author was taught the Cloward & Piven plan to destroy the USA….destroy capitalism and set up a socialist government. “Our #1 topic for 4 years”….how to overwhelm the system with debt and welfare and entitlements and destroy the American economy.
I am not a happy camper as I read the federal government agencies estimates on how Obama’s budget will effect the FY 2020 economy and the Debt. I just bought a book “Beating Obamacare” that I recommend to anyone of any age paying taxes and remembering our history of being “free Americans” as we sink into Orwell’s “1984” into serfdom to D.C.

I take it that the venerable gentleman poster Horst Hrubbisch does not plan to find and read that url article I posted….it printed 4 full pages, by a Columbia U grad and a leading conservative in D.C…..and an author. He is giving first-hand experience on the subject of Obama’s agenda from day one in the Oval Office, which fits the Plan taught in all poly-sci classrooms in the 1980s at Columbia, and no doubt many other Liberal colleges.
Thank you Respectful, as my elders used to say to a social grace expressed, “you sir are a scholar and a gentleman”…
I hope you are also a Watcher on the Wall taking note of the roots of the surface conditions and trends we see these days.

You are very kind to say so, Taxpayer.
I’ve deleted the post to which I think you are referring as per a promise made within it, but your words are still appreciated.
I am a watcher, and one who takes what actions I can, but I don’t believe in walls.
I prefer doors and bridges to walls.
But even from the positions of doors and bridges, I can see the conditions and trends to which you refer. And I just say,
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.”
And I also ask for the strength to do it with respect and compassion.
Thank you again for you thoughtful words, Taxpayer. I hope you can one day drop your disgust. Perhaps Prayerfultaxpayer?.

I deleted my comment because I thought you had deleted yours Horst. That wasn’t the case?
    As long as it’s gone.
It is more cowardly to attack and insult from behind a keyboard than it is to state an opinion based on history and convictions.
Fascist cowardice is no worse or better than liberal self righteous cowardice.
