It’s been my opinion that each member of Congress, once a month, should be made to randomly draw from a hat the name of one of their constituents- and for that month, the Congressman/woman earns the same pay and gets the same benefits as that constituent.
You could bet we’d start seeing more action to improve the lives of the ordinary citizen then!

You are talking about countries with some social programs, not socialist countries.

Not just Congress is exempting itself.
Obama’s cabinet puppets have exempted friends; the IRS under AG Holder is exempting itself and the law requires the IRS to enforce the laws of Obamacare. IMO that is open scofflawism.
    -
If the 9 wise persons on the USSC cannot detect laws that violate our Constitution, then we need a 50-state rebellion against what is openly a federal takeover, in progressive steps, of the entire healthcare industry and the insurance industry, in its final stage. How can any American do such treason to our founding principles in supporting Obamacare or call for a universal government system?

Britan is flat broke,as is France and the Netherlands. The rest of the scandanavin coountries have a combined population that is less then the NYC metro area.Plus they all work and pay taxes.Half of them don’t get a check ,free rent, food stamps, and Obama phones that come through a Mexican company.

Its socialism for the rich in this country. They get their tax breaks and bail outs.

As I understand it, the individual congress person has to pick a health plan and pay for it. They just get a lower rate as it is partly subsidized by the government. In other words, they are getting socialism.

Gosh, I better tell my doctor the health care system here is imploding, because she’s setting me up for my regular colonoscopy. I hope it implodes before I have to go through that again.

“Socialism exacerbates the problems it claims to solve. You can’t multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Except insurance, police & fire protection, roads, public schools, and so much more is socialism. We all pay for goods and services that we may or may not use because it’s for the greater good of the community.

    @Jase99

Jase, we all “join” a community that we “agree” to pay to provide us with those services. If you are not in agreement with the game plan, you can move to the country and take care of it yourself. Oh yeah, you can. Taxes are lower in the sticks BECAUSE you get fewer services. You can drill a well rather than have “city water” and use a septic tank rather than have sewer services. You can haul your trash to the dump yourself and pay as you go by the ton. You can use a tractor and grader (box blade) to smooth your road to the hard top – which you can use because you buy fuel (except for farm fuel which is taxed less), a DL and tags. (taxes and fees).

But when the government mandates that every citizen MUST do thus and so or be penalized – cash of jail time look it up – then it is no longer YOUR choice and thus not a free society.

    “Reagan was dottering senile coot"
    -
That “dottering senile coot” will in time be rated the best president of the 20th century America.
    -
Reagan’s policies kept the USSR out of Central and South America. Reagan forced the USSR into “keeping up” with the USA military and triggered the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Russian Communist system.
    -
Reagan’s Recovery gave America a real new jobs record…
for 16 months from September 1983….that month 1.1 million new jobs were created….MORE THAN OBAMA CREATED IN 7 MONTHS IN 2013.
    -
GW Bush in his 5th year, Jan.-July, saw 1.6 million new jobs.
    -
Obama’s policies are the exact reverse of Reagan’s and Bush’s policies that give the private sector freedom to grow the economy!
