It would be nice if our justice system carried such a large sword when it comes to terrorism and all things trying to ruin American life (foreign and domestic). Methinks, however, that she’s been carrying a nice foam noodle for some time now.

Legal immigrants, Ima, one dead the other still alive. HOPEFULLY , they WILL take him alive for interrogation, and a resolve on his actual motives, not just “media speculation” this time! Notable their uncle described them as “losers”, a common trait of both mass shooters, and bombing folks, like Mc Veigh and the the Colorado shootings, both Columbine, and the movie theater years later.

It sounds like they may have fallen for religious extremist views, but I think organized terrorists are as mentally imbalanced as other mass murderers.

I hope he gets life WITH parole. The federal prisoners will enjoy having their way with his young flesh for decades. then when he is institutionalized, old, feeble and unable to care for himself, I hope the government makes a public announcement as to the time and place of his release. I hope he lives a long, long life in prison, and dies a cold lonely death on the streets in his 90’s.

that’s justice, not putting him down after just a few years.

I’m actually agreeing largely with you both.
The trouble is, have you noticed something on this board?

In Boston, along with dozens of serious injuries amongst the 170 odd victims, we also have the deaths of an 8 year-old child, a 23 year-old Chinese post-grad student and a 29 year-old woman with much still ahead of her, all extinguished, all too soon. We learn much about them in our press, their aspirations, their ideals, what unfilled promises they held for our society at large. We shall miss them.
Terrorists are not insane, just desensitised. I think they dehumanise their victims. They won’t see an 8 year-old, a foreign post-grad student, a warm and loving woman; just means to an end.

There is no such humanisation of the victims our governments kill in our name in remote regions of Yemen, Waziristan or Afghanistan. They’re collateral damage. But we didn’t mean to. See how easily we explain away their lives? I see it on this board, how some dehumanise people with words that speak atrocities, easily rolling off their tongues in real life and then onto our screens (or perhaps they use the anonymity of the this forum to say what they wouldn’t say in public). Fact is, they think it and post it on here. It’s an all too easy step then to do it.
