    I see where Boehner has finally given a number for classification of “the rich” as $1 million and Obama has countered by raising his definition to $400,000.

    Hallelujah, Praise God, etc.

    These two could have gotten off their political butts and done this months ago.

    Seems the libs have been brainwashed to parrot it will only be the ‘rich’. O has had 4 years to slow the spending instead of waiting. But he has been waiting for this day since 2008, knowing the flood of money will be coming to his flock of congresspeople. Who here with jobs (the homeless welfare people posting from libraries need not answer) can afford to pay $4000+ to the government at this time of their lives?

    The $400k was this morning’s news.

    Mike, you did not read or did not understand, I think because of the similar numbers. You wrote 4 hundred thousand, King of me was answering the troll with the incorrect number of 4 thousand. You were writing about the income level above where the tax cuts would be rescinded. King was responding to the mindless troll with the incorrect number regarding the additional tax the middle class would be required to pay if the fiscal cliff comes to pass. I don’t agree with your political point of view most of the time, but I respect you so please don’t think I am attacking you, I’m simply pointing out where I think you made a mistake in understanding what King of Me wrote.

    @Mr. King

    It’s pointless to discuss tax numbers with Ima. He cannot grasp the concepts of progressive taxation with graduated brackets.
    -
    He doesn’t know what tax rates apply to what levels of income.
    -
    But, he KNOWS Obama is bad. Very bad. So if Obama wants Bush tax cuts to expire of the rich, it’s very, very bad for everyone. Or anything else Obama wants. Bad, bad, bad.
    -
    Ima does not comprehend that taxes for the rich will increase only for the top levels of their income.

    Voters elected a split Congress…Dems muleheadedly insist on raising taxes on the Demonized “Rich”….and raising spending to raise the federal DEBT…..the GOP is trying to be true to principles of Lower Spending and Lower Taxes. Then there is the Biggest Spender in History waiting in the Oval Office to VETO any bill that isn’t parroting his plan…..what do you Dems expect? Do you stonewall on “talks” and then plan to pin the blame on the GOP?

    I was giving Ima the benefit of the doubt as to typos and giving King of Me updated information. That information had just come out as “breaking news” as I was perusing the comics. Ima couldn’t possibly believe the numbers he typed were for real (could he?).

    Relax, Congress is on the case, and we all know how they can turn on a dime… Ahem… Does Congress even know how a dime looks like these days? What was that quote: “A billion here, a billion there, and before you know it we’re talking about real money!”…

    @disgustedtaxpayer

    Yes, the brave brave tax fighters that are the GOP had no problem jamming through tax cuts heavily favoring the rich.
    -
    Spending cuts? Not so much.
    -

    Or maybe you can cite some specific spending cuts the Republicans enacted when they were in power under Bush. While you’re at it, identify where the size of government was reduced.
    -
    Don’t forget to include the two wars that were unpaid for, Medicare Part D, the Bush stimulus and all the secret earmarks.
    -
    And leave out the snide crap this time. If you can’t cite any, just say so.

    Even Ann Coulter believes that the GOP doesn’t want to actually cut spending, they just want to allocated it differently. More corporate welfare, more military and less of everything else. Boehner is trying to dance around this, but it is apparent to too many Americans this time.

    $4000 is the number that the news has been tossing around based on pre-Bush taxes. Are you off your meds? You must be trolling from the library since you comment all day.
