D.M. is right. But I draw the line at “try and” instead of “try to”. Try and form the past tense of this sentence. I tried and formed the past tense, but couldn’t. “To form” is an infinitive. It’s just weird to replace the “to” with “and” in an infinitive. It started all of a sudden in the 1880s. I fought it then; I’ll fight it now.
