Just a few practical suggestions would be nice, something besides – ANYTHING besides – the Fox Rush Noize blame game.

Well, Jim Brinkley that not only is not true, it doesn’t make sense. And this is not just about Mexicans, but it is also not true about other Central and South Americans. Read real news not just Fox opinions.

The US has been the sole protector of Latin America since Monroe promised to protect them all from European predators.

We already did “fix” Central America. That’s why those kids can’t survive in their home countries.

It is really amazing how FOX has managed to brainwash the whole conservative population. They have managed to eliminate critical thinking. They completely ignore the facts of the issue and continue to chant the ideological chant of the day. Impeach the President, repeal the ACA, investigate Benghazi again, all poor people are lazy and should find a job, reduce the deficit but take it all from social programs while subsidizing big oil and the defense industry, let other countries continue to game our tax code so big corporations can continue to not pay taxes, and don’t do anything even remotely useful to address things like jobs, infrastructure, and immigration.

And HOW LONG has the administration been trying to get "Con"gress to do ANYTHING about Immigration Reform?

In the 113 Congress, the Senate has passed four (that I could find) immigration bills:

    • S. 2195: A bill to deny admission to the United States to any representative to the United Nations who has been found to have been engaged in espionage activities or a terrorist activity against the United States and poses a threat to United States nation
    Sponsor: Sen. Ted Cruz [R-TX]
    Introduced: Apr 01, 2014
Signed by the President: Apr 18, 2014
    • S. 1614: Accuracy for Adoptees Act
    Sponsor: Sen. Amy Klobuchar [D-MN]
    Introduced: Oct 30, 2013
Signed by the President: Jan 16, 2014
    • S. 1566: A bill to extend the period during which Iraqis who were employed by the United States Government in Iraq may be granted special immigrant status and to temporarily increase the fee or surcharge for processing machine-readable nonimmigrant visas.
    Sponsor: Sen. Jeanne Shaheen [D-NH]
    Introduced: Sep 30, 2013
    Passed Senate: Sep 30, 2013
    • S. 744: Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act
Sponsor: Sen. Charles “Chuck” Schumer [D-NY]
    Introduced: Apr 16, 2013
    Passed Senate: Jun 27, 2013

This is out of 43 introduced. The House has had 94 bills introduced with a blazing one passed.
    • H.R. 3233: To extend the period during which Iraqis who were employed by the United States Government in Iraq may be granted special immigrant status and to temporarily increase the fee or surcharge for processing machine-readable nonimmigrant visas.
    Sponsor: Rep. Earl Blumenauer [D-OR3]
    Introduced: Oct 02, 2013
Signed by the President: Oct 04, 2013

It doesn’t strike me that the Congress, the House being Republican-the Senate Democratic, has been doing much of anything as concerns our Southern border problem.

    O.K. Yes, this is a copy and paste from another cartoon, but I’ll put it here for others to read;

By the way…I wonder exactly how many people on here saying we need to “Build an Electric Fence Along the entire border” have ever actually BEEN to southern Texas or New Mexico or Arizona and seen the territory? I have been through some of the area, and it looks like the surface of Mars in places.
The cost would be ENORMOUS, since so much of it is rugged mountain terrain, and nowhere near ANY form of infrastructure that could support such a project.
The same with “Stationing troops along the entire border”. How would you support the troops? There are NO sources of water nearby, so you would have to spend exorbitant amounts of money to build support bases for thousands and thousands of troops. Stationing troops in what is basically a desert would require huge expenditures.
You would have to ship in large amounts of food and water, comparable to what was done in Iraq and Afghanistan, then build housing for the troops, and full support bases.
The country could easily spend a half Trillion dollars on this, and still not be able to secure the border completely.

Surely one could use land mines in those desolate places. When the GOP gets back in a position of power I am sure they can rewrite some Geneva Convention stuff to make it legal.

  12. Gary Kleppe

Gary Kleppe said, 5 months ago

    @r2varney

Why should they make it legal? Right now they’re in the best possible situation. They can keep using all of that stuff themselves but if anyone else does it they can make a big deal over it being illegal. It’s the same thing they do with torture, not to mention going into other countries without permission.

Yeah, because everyone knows a ten year old Mexican kid won’t have a bit of trouble getting a voter ID card and an SSN. GOD, how you people can look in the mirror is beyond me.

The simple answer is to annex Mexico, and secure the much smaller border to the South there. (Good grief, I’ve probably given the right wing an idea that’ll be coming back fifty years from now.)

“It is really amazing how FOX has managed to brainwash the whole conservative population.”
    .
as opposed to the mainstream media that has their lips so far up the DNC’s posterior, that they know what the president had for breakfast the day before.
    .
    “Impeach the President,”
    .
You mean the guy that has been having his hand slapped by the supreme court?
    .
    “repeal the ACA,”
    .
Which probably bears a little responsibility for the continuing slide in the workforce participation rate.
    .
    “investigate Benghazi again”
    .
When your first instinct is to shift blame when none was placed, that kinda stinks.
    .
“all poor people are lazy and should find a job”
    .
Obama removed Clinton’s requirement for those on public assistance to work and then he proceeded to recruit more and more people to be dependent on govt.
