The problem with this policy is not centered on the things that the proponents of it are telling us.

They truthfully tell us that women have already ended up in direct combat situations mostly by accident and not by a deliberate policy. This has been true for every war the USA has ever been in, I have no doubt about that at all.

They also state that there is no physical or psychological reason that women could not have a role in active combat, and I think this is also quite possibly true as well.

However, what the proponents of this policy do not seem to want to actually discuss is the most important point of all. That point is simply
“Should” we be deliberately placing women into this kind of a situation.

Isn’t it bad enough that we have relatively young men that have to experience the true horrors of active combat?

Should we then also be giving such a totally terrible experience to potential (and even worse actual) wives, and even mothers?

What would be next, our children???

I may be old fashioned, but I say no!!

    1. Women in service are there because they joined.
    2. If having women in combat makes us reconsider whether to send ANYONE into combat, that’s good. Maybe we shouldn’t.

Sun Tzu – “If captured by the enemy, do not let them give you to their women.”
The cartoon takes an important topic and makes it vulgar.
    That said…
I find it sadly appropriate that being a senator ( R or D) is now on a par with pedophiles and murderers. They are harming our children with bad policies, growing debt, and bills written by their donors. They are killing our men and women by keeping them in poverty or in the case of our military, sending them away to fight on behalf of corrupt gov’ts.
I believe Mr. Pett could have made a better statement.
    Respectfully,
    C.

These guys don’t “combat”, they ambush. Recently a pundit on TV noted that the U.S. military is still preparing for a WW2-style tank-vs-tank battle (btw with YOUR tax dollars!). I believe this is because they realized that they can’t “win” a war against this kind of “warriors”, as seen in Afghanistan. A lesson learned earlier by the Russians. And the Brits. And Genghis Khan…

How about the president, all 100 senators, the entire house of representatives, all governors, everybody in the state legislatures and every judge in every court, every mayor, every county commissioner, every cop and every chief of police. Then every priest and reverend, every bishop and cardinal and protestant equivalents, and the pope. That would be interesting but at my age I’ll never live to see it.
I would like to recommend a book “when god was a woman”, ©1976 by Merlin Stone, ISBN 0-88029-533-3. In it she details how originally gods and clergy were female in a matriarchal society and how beginning 6,000 years ago men began taking over and ruining everything.

As Gallagher said; “Less then 10% of the violent crimes in the U.S. are committed by women! COME ON GIRLS, hold up YOUR end of the bargain…”

she was ‘towing’ the daughter – on the courthouse steps. Phoenix Courthouse. they broke into the confidential M & E Children files. and chose to keep the girl for their own ‘sexplotation" . and put one of their ’undocumented’ in her place. mother of course – was going to ‘collect the coffin’ … with her gone there would be room for one more

there would be less war if half the senate and the Hoouse were female.
Whose idea was it to fight like men?
Some may think it’s great but I think they got suckered into this one.
