Had a friend who had a cat with diabetes. Since I have it, too, he thought it’d be nice if I took care of it while they vacationed. I told him afterward that if it were mine, he’d have been done in as soon as the diagnosis was made. I’ve been diabetic for 62 years…………. With what insulin cost now; back then it was $1.89 a bottle. the synthetics available now are $50 per pen. No thank you!

Keep in mind, though, that a cat only needs a TINY dose of insulin to treat its diabetes. I had a cat who lived for about four years after its diagnosis. We gave him a shot every morning … no big deal. It certainly didn’t send us to the poorhouse.

my pug(see pic) is going blind, she needs drops in each eye twice a day. a tiny bottle cost cost $65, last time i bought it, it cost $50. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. so we do it every other day and hope for the best.

Have you tried 1800 Pet Meds? I don’t want to sound like an advertisement here, but I had a cat that also required somewhat expensive meds and found them for a LOT less on their website than thru my vet. Might be worth a try!

We had a parody Jim’s Journal at my University. It had a similar story one day. The last frame had “Tim” standing in front of a Chinese restaurant saying “I saved five bucks by selling the meat.”
