I am sure all those folks on the headstones would have been shot anyway, whackos do not pull out statutes and read the laws first, they just shoot.

However, it would be nice if those whacko killers were put away from society for a long time when they kill.
We cannot stop the first kill but there is a responsibility to prevent further death.

Some states are failing to protect their citizens from unnecessary harm.
I am really happy the extremist whacks posting here are a very very tiny minority in the real world.

For the first two, do you really feel it is justified that for a financial theft that somebody be killed ? If the person was arrested on the spot it would not be the death penalty.

Perhaps you can go to the wondrous country known as the Central African Republic, where you can go feel strong with a gun in hand and launch your own vandetta without fear of oppressive government reproach

GUN violence? OK. So how about just violent crime? No one has a gun but there is STILL a bit of gun violence in GB.

    How is that possible?

And on just your everyday mayhem:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-25671/Violent-crime-worse-Britain-US.html

So the lead sentence in this article:

Britain has a higher crime rate than any other rich nation except Australia, according to a survey yesterday.”

OK just a survey but still it flies in the face of your logic. AND it cites your second example as being WORSE.

Gee, and think. I found THAT article on the first try.

Dude, here is the proof. On 3/22/13 with Ed Schultz Mikey said that “white” gun owners were racist.

This evening, on Ed Schultz’s soon-to-be-extinct weeknight MSNBC show, a histrionic Michael Moore accused white gun owners of racism …..

    See the video:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2013/03/22/michael-moores-hypocrisy-white-gun-owners-racist-understandable-th

As for CAnada? When you are stuck inside a cabin for 6 to 9 months a year the opportunity and the close personal contact makes it difficult to be homicidal I suppose.

Besides, don’t the mounties always get their man??

You wrote: “the only people in Great Britain that have firearms are the criminals, and the government.”
Sigh. If you look at the gun homicide rates between the UK and the US, ours were 3.6 per 100,000 in 2011; the UK had only .04 per 100,000 in 2010.
To put it another way, an American is NINETY TIMES MORE LIKELY to die by gun homicide than his British counterpart.

I have heard that California passed a law requiring a microstamp on newly sold firearms. A microstamp is essentially a serial number that transfers the ID to spent casings. In response, Smith & Wesson won’t sell in California.
    -
Maybe the gun violence advocates on these boards can explain how a microstamp is an infringement on the right to keep and bear arms.

Under Florida rules, Orval Reddenbacher would have been shot to death, anyone with a car stereo is a target, and don’t you dare be so criminal as to walk home with skittles and iced tea!
