Between U.S. and Israeli actions, killing their kids will do that, more “terrorists” have been created, and even moderate ones, as if there were such a thing, are going to even more extreme sides…

Fortunately, so far, in the U.S., only radical idiocy is boosting TEA party and other extremists further, so far, that is, no TIm McVeighs, just random nuts with guns…

Iraq had a secular government that had been leaning toward the USSR. Fortunately, the US got rid of that government, since we must free all countries from leaning toward the USSR. Now Iraq has a Shi’a government, which is leaning both toward the US and Iran, but as long as we freed them from the USSR, the US has done a great job!

(As a bonus, oil was selling for $30 a barrel before the Iraq War, and the cost of extraction was about $30, so many of America’s best people were severely stressed; after the war raised the price of oil to almost $150, that stress has been replaced by the stress of how best to spend their money. So the war was a twofer!)

Since the Shi’a government is leaning toward the US, we must stop the Sunnis who have been disfranchised. Their disfranchisement was in full accord with US and Shi’a Law, so they have no legitimate complaint. But, for some reason that no one can possibly understand, they seem to support the IS (Arabic DA).

(And what the IS has to do with Gaza, since no one in Gaza is free to join the IS, escapes me.)

Israel is hoping the Sunni fanatics will go to war with the Shi’a fanatics, leaving Israel in peace.

(Which just goes to show that Israelis can be meshugenah.)

Killing children for political or religious reasons is heinous. Any parent, any adult member of a society, who is not outraged by such killings is unworthy of being called a human being. Outraged people are inspired to take action. Some write letters or protest. Some want a more direct approach. Those without armies and other means may resort to terrorism.

Ask yourself what you would do if children in your neighborhood were killed. dtroutma is correct, heavy-handed tactics have created many enemies of the United States.

And I was in the US Navy.
But by BEING so doesn’t change the fact that dtroutma…and YOU are very wrong!
I honor anybody that served honorably in the service. But dtroutma and people like you stain your service by throwing it around every time someone disagrees with you by using it to belittle them just because they did serve. And a distinguished veteran wouldn’t keep using it as a political weapon like that.
I also notice, Landers, that while calling me misinformed and lacking independent thought, that you failed to point out where I was wrong in my statement about what ISIS/ISIL are doing to Christians in Mosul just because they aren’t converted to Islam and NOT because America and Israel kill their children. Why would they attack their own people if that were the case???
I’d rethink my position on where you stand on things if you’re the ones thinking we’re misinformed…..

The point was you can disagree without being disrespectful to your fellow comrades in arms.

And this is why we should’ve armed the more moderate rebels in Syria. Even when we didn’t know who they were. Because we all know that American weapons and training can only ever be used for American interests; never against them.

Dtroutma lets us know what he thinks:
“Between U.S. and Israeli actions, killing their kids will do that, "
He typed that just 12 hours ago. How can that be interpreted any other way than to see how he believes that ISIS/ISIL is doing what they’re doing because he thinks Israel and America have killed their kids?
    And you’re calling ME extreme???

Between this and your other post about the US and the Middle East you must be getting a lot of exercise dancing around my question.
WHY are ISIS/ISIL killing their OWN people? They’re killing their OWN people that aren’t Islam! They’ve been doing it for eons to “infidels”. They don’t need a reason other than that and would be doing it with or without America’s history in the Middle East! Don’t be blaming America on what ISIS/ISIL is doing to their own people! That’s just what dtroutma accused! If you don’t LIKE that then REFUTE with facts pertaining to the situation! And you’ve YET to DO that!

Radical Muslims began killing to expand their base more than a thousand years ago. The first Christian crusade in 1095 was in response to hundreds of years of Muslim attacks. Look up the Battle of Tours, in 732. If Charles Martel’s army (He had a Hammer) hadn’t defeated the Muslim invaders it is likely Europe would’ve become Muslim. Modern, Muslims sacrifice their own children as human shields and hide missiles inside churches.

NO amount of The US has ANYTHING to do what ISIS/ISIL is doing to their own people. They’d be killing their own country people with or without us because they consider them infidels!
You’re being ignorant when you say that’s part of our “meddling” in things over there. I stand by that!

ISIS (or their name of the day, like Blackwater), Netanyahu and Likud, Maliki, Assad, and many living folks SUCK as well as some of the dead ones, like Saddam and Gadaffi(pick your spelling on him).

BTW: a number of sources note that as with “ancient” Islam, ISIS has actually said "convert, PAY A TAX, move, or die, which is still stupid, but less radical than the western press reports.

When it comes to ALL of these folks, I go back to “Merry Minuet” and the fact that “I don’t like anybody very much”, in ANY of these TERRORIST GROUPS, OR GOVERNMENTS!!

The rules of war are simple, you DO NOT KILL CIVILIANS. Mohammed taught that. Jesus tried to teach that, despite the “sword not peace” speech he gave after the Sermon on the Mount. (Read all of Mathew), Geneva Conventions demand that, and ALL the current idiots can’t keep that straight, in Ukraine (Kiev is just as guilty as the “rebels” btw), or most any of the other current 52 “wars” going on in the world.

Being anti-war, especially stupid ones, is not the same as NOT being a pacifist who WILL defend, WHEN ATTACKED.

KIlling people for your country, makes you respect human life, and it’s why I spent over 4 decades after combat doing my part, and my best, to SAVE LIVES, professionally, and in volunteer work. Hmm, trying to improve people’s lives, like working for those with disabilities, like many of my combat friends, and others, also left me with experience, and more than just “opinion” on what is right, and wrong.

I reject the “bible religions”, and favor Buddhist beliefs in large part because it is the sanctioning of killing so prevalent in those “bible thumpers”, that makes me realize either they worship a false god, or are hypocrites. Living a life to PRESERVE LIFE, is a nobel, and far harder, course, than sitting back and spouting B.S. from some source of idiocy, claiming valid “opinion” based on stupidity, ignorance, and hate.

Which is why I also find it interesting that when I, or others here, speak for peace, and cooperation among Men, who CAN disagree without killing, we’re called the ones who “hate”… yep, interesting indeed!!

A few samples of history, in addition:

Spain was Christian before it was conquered by the Muslims, about 711 AD. It became a province of the Caliphate, and parts of Spain were held by the Muslims for nearly 800 years. The Reconquest ended in about 1492, under King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

Constantinople was a Christian city and capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. It fell to the Muslims in 1453. The cathedral of the city became the Hagia Sophia, an Imperial mosque, until the Turks secularized the building and made it a museum.

The Austrians and the Poles defeated the Muslim armies outside the walls of Vienna in 1683.

In balance with that, there were the Crusades, not to mention more recent events.

They’ve been attacking us and we’ve been attacking them for centuries, trying to impose our wills on each other and take each other’s resources. I think it’s time we put an end to that sort of thing.
