    But aren’t the majority of the Red Sox outspoken socialists, Mr. Holbert? All for one and one for all? Have you orchestrated this ’toon with the Murdock tune? Or are you feeling one of the One yourself?

    Last place last season. World Series champs this season. And the icing on the cake: the Yankees missed the playoffs altogether.

    An added bonus: this ’toon recognizes that some things that happen are not government-related. Nice change.

    Pavlov would be proud. No bell needed, and yet the response occurs.

    Since when are the Red Sox underdogs? Tied for the third largest payroll this year, go back a few years and they had the largest in all of baseball. Go back decades and they are still shuffling around the top. A long history of losing doesn’t make you an underdog. Orioles, Mets, Padres, Pirates – there’s a long list of actual underdogs.

    @Danny Murphy

    If payroll size guaranteed success, the Yankees would win every year.

    Baseball does have a system that evens the playing field to an extent…
    Tax the wealthy, our government does this , perhaps not enough.
    Congrats to the BoSox, the team that gave Babe Ruth to the Yankees….
    I do not think that any team will ever dominate as the New York Nine once did…
    And look at the San Francisco Giants.
