    And, of course, Jerry’s point is how much it costs taxpayers to have people use the ER for minor injuries like a malfunctioning website. Once they’ve all got coverage, they can take these non-critical, non-life-threatening problems to a regular physician and, even if they are being subsidized, it will cost less than having them use ERs.
    .
    Good insight, Jerry!

    A friend with great connections went to the ER with chest pains, no insurance, and no intention of paying. They told him to go home, it was not a life-threatening condition. This is the normal response. Along with a bill for $400 that he had no intention of paying, since it would just be one more phone call from the bill collectors, and he was already avoiding a lot of those, so one more wouldn’t matter.

    Then a physician he knew saw him and admitted him for a free quadruple bypass. But most of us with no insurance don’t have his connections.

    (Some who would like affordable healthcare for all Americans are not yet convinced that the ACA is going to live up to its name, but the rational sceptics are not yet convinced that it is NOT going to live up to its name, since there doesn’t seem to be enough hard data to reach a sound conclusion.)

    We should have universal healthcare like other countries have.

    Some guys just can not walk and chew gum at the same time. Should have never let him out the door. I hear he got roughed up by trying to get to the WW2 war memorial. Something about Obama shutting things down so as to protect his legacy. Turns out the Republicans were right and the guy just wondered right into the middle of it chewing his gum and wham. He ran right into the road and the reality of it hit him like a mac truck!

    But but Obama said it would be Free. So why would i not go there? A broken arm is a pre existing condition?
    you want to talk about cost? No co pay means no up front pay and no skin in the game once the work it done. You will either have to have the money up front, up to 6 grand in a year under Obamacare or most Doctors will stop seeing you. How is that for Health insurance? Right now The Doc will see me because he knows i will pay. At Minimum I will have the co pay and a way to track me down with the bills. a Policy with only a 6 grand deductible means no money coming in so door will start shutting!

    Jerry lives and works in Massachusetts, the home of Romney Obama Healthcare since 2006. He KNOWS what works and what doesn’t. And he’s employed by the international Murdoch machine. I know, I know, that ain’t ‘news,’ merely a fact.

    I think Michael wme has missed the point here. Healthcare has taken a beating under Obama’s plan. The launch of Obama care has been flawed , it is too complex for even the pros to understand – politicians , doctors , hospital administrators , insurance companies , etc… Some people are losing coverage and cannot get signed up yet. Our health care system overall is in a state of flux over the changes and the people and the system both are unsure of the road ahead. I’m not saying the ACA can’t be fixed and neither is Mr. Holbert , but this ain’t no band -aid thing , the injuries are serious if not life threatening! If Obama’s plan was to throw the baby out with the bath water , just so we could have a new baby – he has succeeded!

    Good luck on finding a physician who will take any more patients! And if you can, hope you are patient (no pun intended) because you will probably have to wait three weeks for an appointment!

    “no rational doctor is going to close their practice” – tell that to the doctors who have already done so, sir! Also, tell that to the doctors who are refusing to take ANY kind of insurance, including Medicare/Medicaid! You do not know what you are talking about, with all due respect.

    You are so blinded by your irrational hatred that you don’t even know that you’re not making any sense. Routine visits will be covered 100%, no co-pay."
    ahh the details, those little things that do not fit in the campaign LIES of Obama. Yes that colon check will be FREE, FREEE FREEE STUFF FOR ALL THE POOR. but the visit is still not covered. you still need to be able to pay the doctor. The doctor in turn gets to pick how he wants to be paid!.
    HIDDEN CO-PAYS Even if a preventive test or screen is fully paid by insurance, you may still have a co-pay or co-insurance for the doctor’s office visit. That is, the preventive care is free, but the doctor’s visit is not. “This is the main source of confusion we’ve seen,” Ms. Stoll said.

    @TheTrustedMechanic

    Let me explain in your terms. You offer a free screening for a car. You hook up the thing under the dash. All is well, the person is happy, no pay. You offer free oil change. Great right and mommy government pays for it all. But Mommy government only wants to pay 20$ for your labor. The oil and filter are “free” from the government but the rate, subject to change, is 20$ AND you must take ANY car that rolls in on schedule. You also must take a minimum of cars in order to get paid. So with this in place and the minimum is 30 cars a week, and you break even every time you do this, how many cars oil are you going to change?

    Yeah, I’ve seen all the stories about former doctors who now deliver pizzas in their BMWs.
