    Gun Control Works Example #365
    -
While there is video of two men approaching Officer Collier’s car, three law enforcement officials said, it does not clearly show their faces. But investigators now believe the brothers killed the officer to get another gun.
    -
“He had a triple-lock holster, and they could not figure it out,” a law enforcement official said. “There is evidence at the scene to suggest that they were going for his gun.”
    -
Just to suggest that a little MORE gun control, of VARIOUS sorts, would save more lives.

I’ve heard that a significant percentage of police that are shot in the USA have been done so with their own weapon, is this so?
If so, the example you provided is a good example of a great form of gun control – immensely sad that an officer had to die to demonstrate it.

Apart from what wmconelly said, what part of the gun control system is working?
Excuse my foreign bias, but nearly all the school massacres that we hear about are in the USA.

Now we need foreign warlords, communists, criminals, and dictators being shown given payouts to Obama and other politicians supporting weapon bans and control.

And the Democrats take money from the Trial Lawyers Association, the ACLU, the Sierra Clup, Code Pink, PETA and former Weathermen.

“Sounds like the officer couldn’t get his gun out in time because of the triple lock holster, so it COST him his life.”
The officer was not a quick draw artist, was not aware, apparently, that they intended to shoot him and was seated in his car. If it had been laying on the seat next to him, it very likely would not have changed the outcome.

Sorry but most of the will of the people don’t want more gun control unless it is background checks and mental health checks.

And as far how it is germane to the discussion both parties have their supporters going back to the Wigs and the Tories.

This was a 3 minute search under "police shot with own weapon. Not too hard even for an unsophisticated user and it’s the FBI database. Your assumption is totally incorrect, it is exactly the opposite situation. 72 officers were killed in 2011 and 3 of them were shot with their own weapon.

So you are saying the NRA does not give HUGE political donations to the Republican party? IT IS A FACT. Show me one fact backing up the rediculous statement you just made, otherwise you sir are just a liar.

I think you will find that the NRA gave to both parties quite liberally and always has. They know they have democrats from high gun ownership states that they can influence. Lighten up on the “liar” pal, he was making a supposition, not denying the content of the cartoon. Here’s some charts for you to see the facts behind some of the remarks made. Democrats have shown themselves very willing to take lobbying money from the NRA and others.

This might be a shock to some of the more rabid posters here, but the majority of the American people are a lot more interested in our economic problems than they are gun control. The latest gallup polls make interesting reading in that regard. This shows that currently Americans are primarily concerned about the Economy, unemployment, dissatisfaction with government, deficits, family decline, education etc. Guns ranked #9 out of 16 categories.

Logic would tell you that gun control is a heated emotional issue but not high on the priority list for most Americans. This is obviously not something we can ignore, but it says to me that there are many more important issues that we need to focus on, some of which will improve this situation. When the economy is healthy, crime goes down as well as violence. We desperately need for our elected leaders to do just that, LEAD, and they need us hammering on them to accomplish that. Bitching at each other in public forums may be momentarily gratifying but it does nothing to pressure our elected leaders. Phone calls and emails (both free) heat up the offices in Washington (and state and local). Make your noise and arguments there, where it can effect change.

Mickey I aagree I was just responding to Zoids stupid comment that foreign warlords, communists, criminals, and dictators contribute to Pres Obama. I said Republicans because that is who he obviously sides with by his rediculous remark and the tone of his comment was that the NRA does not contribute to Republicans. I am personally against the legality of lobbyist and special intrest groups, they ruin the whole ideal of being a Democracy.

I understand, it was definitely “over the top,” and I don’t pay much attention to remarks as such, I’m more concerned with the ferocity of the dialog and this issue definitely brings it out…

How does more gun control stop bombers? Such as bombers making bombs out of kitchen appliances? Using your defective logic, and it is very defective, the kook socialist gun grabbers will next start banning the sale of kitchen appliances and registering all owners of kitchens. How stupid can socialists get? Just when you think they can’t be any more stupid, they find a new way.
