    “The journalist Nicholas Shaxson has published a chilling book titled “Treasure Islands,” which explains how international tax havens — which are also, as the author points out, “secrecy jurisdictions” where many rules don’t apply — undermine economies around the world. Not only do they bleed revenues from cash-strapped governments and enable corruption; they distort the flow of capital, helping to feed ever-bigger financial crises.”

    So, Holbert, my question: is that Mitt Romney you’ve drawn holding the gun, waiting for Obama to defend the Cayman Islands? Just wonderin’…

    Maybe you could draw Boenher next to him, since he agrees.

    When with other people you don´t have to outrun the zombies, just the slowest person – or wait that is the republican way.

    Something strange is going on. Federal non-military agencies have bought two billion rounds of ammunition in the last 10 months.

    @Rad-ish

    Have any links for that, Radish?
    Ever read Seven days in May?
    @ wmconnelly – there have been similar comments made in interviews from ‘non traditional’ sources. I’m glad to hear there is a book about it too.

    Hypothetically- If a pharmaceutical company had the “cure for cancer” but kept it stashed because they make too much money treating cancer… OR
    An oil/coal/gas company had acquired the patent on a solar panel or battery that would end the need for fossil fuels but refused to admit it existed…..
    Would their “protection”(concealing) of those innovations be good capitalism, or is there an argument for it being a form of Treason since one lets people die needlessly, and the other costs American billions in taxes, gas, heat, etc, to the detriment of our society in the name of profit.
    ^
    I ask, because the people who hide “dollars” representing the goods and services of the American people and Int’l community seem less like good businessmen, and more like Anti American “anti business” men.
    Putting your money in secret off shore accounts may be legal in some way, but is it moral, ethical, or honorable? It certainly isn’t patriotic and it certainly doesn’t create jobs or invest in the nation that made them that money.
    Respectfully,
    C.

    Maybe another Bush tax cut will solve this debt problem.

    Btw, Radish,
    When I ask for the links, its not because I doubt you. I often wonder if you chose your name because of your way of getting to the ‘root’ of an issue and providing some “food for the mind”.
    Radishes be good in recipes and I do enjoy your comments.
    Sincerely,
    C.

    It’s not a crisis until the Republicans say it is.

    “Ammunition”

    C:
    Pardon the partisan link but they were the top of a long list and don’t editorialize the issue, just list the specifics of the purchase. I think this took me 30 seconds to find and copy. Hint, hint, for those that don’t post informational links..

    @mickey1339

    Thank you Mickey,
    I hate surfing the Fox site and was sure I wouldn’t have found it.
    The reasoning behind the purchases, need for training as well as actual self defense, seems reasonable. The companies selling the ammo has ten years of job security and are giving a significant discount.
    However—-
    I LOVED the quote from Alex Jones, apparently a conservative radio host, who seems to feel the gov’t is in an “ARMS RACE” with the American people in expectation of a “massive collapse”, I suppose of our nation?
    Thank you again, Mickey. The article sounded objective and didn’t seem to be a warning of a gov’t takeover of the nation.
    Sincerely,
    C.
