That Politician tag should say Democrat. Less government spending is their kryptonite.

    And then the subway stops.
    Then everyone will wake up.
The reason for sequestration is real and MUST be addressed. There is waste and abuse rampant- even written into legislation by special interests – but a surgeon doesn’t cut out an infection with a chain saw.
I want cuts and I want the job creators to be…“encouraged”…to create the jobs we were told they’ve been waiting to create. A list of needs could be presented to the ‘job creators’ and then they can be given the option of giving a special portion of their ‘tax’ to needs of their communities, state, or nation.
Something needs to be done, and the disparity between the rich and the poor is widening. The value of money must not exceed the value of the things for which money is exchanged…food, water, electricity, emergency services, defense, roads, etc etc.
There is nothing wrong with being rich, but there is no honor in hoarding great wealth when neighbors live in poverty.

Our PM is on a camp out at the Novotel Rooty Hill ( no… let’s not go there, it really is a suburb). Mission to meet the people (the voters she desperately needs). No luck as she is as popular as a pork chop at a Jewish wedding. Anyway OZ is witnessing the longest election campaign in living history. Not that our PM will admit that the campaigning has started. All we want is an election now.

“Not that our PM will admit that the campaigning has started.”

If you like campaigns, come on up here. Some have started already, although wall to wall media coverage of the campaigns won’t start until two years before the election.

“Never in America would a politician take public transportation.”

Michael Dukakis took the subway to work every day when he was governor of Massachusetts. He had his own car….but it was attached to the same train the “regular folks” used.

“Every subway in the country could shut down and not effect me in any way. The closest subway is probably 250 miles away from me.”

Subways and trains are the only public transportation that people will use. People hate buses, but even rich people like trains. I lived in Boston for 4 years to go to school, and I saw this every day: when there was a choice between buses and trains, trains were packed, buses were empty.

Some people might be asleep now but when those sequester cuts come home to roost everyone will be freaking like the politician. He should be worried when he’s up for reelection for agreeing to this ridiculous boondoggle to begin with. Heads will roll particularly those associated with the Teapublicans who don’t realize every cut affects people & their livelihood.

    Canuck from yesterday:
“Ok, that’s it; I quit. I hereby resolve to never again attempt a normal, human conversation with a Redneck. They are quite incapable of it.

Any serious attempt of mine to do so has been met with evasions, subject changes, purposeful misunderstandings, insults, biased sources, and downright ignorance.

I henceforth resolve to only engage people for whom the gathering and sharing of information is more important than the mindless appearance of “winning” an argument.

    So help me Aristotle.”

As for DrCanuck on our comments yesterday:

You know you just used evasions, subject changes, purposeful misunderstandings and insults.

My comments were right on, you just didn’t like the answer.

Joe Biden famously took the train to DC regularly until becoming VP. I saw two congressmen on the subway in DC several years ago. We all got off at Farragut.
You’re doing good, David. Not a drop of mud on you from that comment. ;)
