“Departing from his statutory duty of reporting to the Senate Banking Committee on the Fed’s monetary policy, Bernanke devoted much of his testimony to fiscal policy, warning his congressional class that letting the sequester go ahead would endanger the economic recovery and do little or nothing to reduce the country’s debt burden…” John Cassidy

The entire cartoon is based on a lie. If the GOP cared about debt, they’d close the tax loopholes for the very rich. But they’re just fine with debt, as they proved under Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II. If you care about debt, you need Democratic policies.

@Mr. King
They did! The recession at the end would not have been a big deal if it was better managed by Obama.
Or I should say the recovery.

@Mr. King
Yes that is true but why has it taken so long to recover, none has taken this long. Sorry but Bush has been gone for four years and when he took over he had a Recession as well but had things back to normal in a little over a year.
Loss of savings happens in all recessions so 2008 was not unusual.

The cartoonist left out the background music of republicans playing their filibuster/obstruction fiddles.
