I’ve been having a technical problem and haven’t heard back from the GC tech people so I’m appealing to the technical expertise of the posters. My Flash updated itself and now GC doesn’t display properly and looks like an early windows web site. I’ve uninstalled Flash, installed an earlier version, nothing seems to fix this problem. I run Firefox, windows xp and I’m out of ideas on what to do to fix this. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mickey1339

@ Mickey1339 – i’m not a techie, but when I’ve had unexplainable changes in my programs, I’ve tried going back to a restore point saved prior to the problem beginning. I hope someone has a better suggestion, but it has helped me with some issues.

Jerry Holbert appears to be copying the theme other artists have provided, as well as some of our better commentators who put a better context on some sophomoric content.
That said, Congress deserves this comparison. One can only regret that Carnival will suffer more penalties than Congress for the negligence, mismanagement, and misguided priorities of their leadership. Even those commentators who put Mr. Obama in the Captain’s chair have a point as the president fails to use techniques of communication that Jefferson, Lincoln, Clinton, and many other did to bring people to the table and get them to talk to one another.
Both parties are at fault as both parties have placed party affiliation above American unity and have increasingly used fear and impossible social issues in order to prevent any progress on ANY issue that doesn’t profit them selves or keep them in power. Americans do their best work when they work together.
    Respectfully,
    C.

This s working as it is supposed to work. Washington can’t solve problems, it makes them worse. Stop expecting and looking for the Feds to make your life better or more secure, that’s un-American thinking.

If it was an auto-update it could be that the update is incompatible with XP. Companies are dropping support for XP. You may need to uninstall Flash, do a registry cleanup, and reinstall an older version of Flash.I’d try what C suggested first.

If you clicked on a popup to update Flash, I’d suggest you run a virus scan. A full system scan, not just a system volume and operating memory scan. A full system scan will take quite a while. The malware creeps are attaching bad things to what appears to be a legitimate popup but isn’t. Adobe has the same problem along with a few others. There is a work around for these popups but this is not the place to explain it. Also, you may have to boot to safe mode to perform the scan. I would suggest Avast (or something similar) which can be downloaded for free.

Both parties are at fault, and Mr. Obama, sitting in the captain’s chair, is failing to use proven techniques to build consensus was the gist of my comment. Both parties are indefensible in their party first, nation second attitudes.
    ^
When a conservative says both parties are at fault, what does that mean?
    ^
You’ve obviously not read the many complaints I’ve made about the Dem leaderships’ failures, tho it was while blaming both parties.
    ^
It is my opinion when a “human” takes an all or nothing view on an issue they are either in extremely good control of their facts, the quality of their sources, and their goal in conveying that information…or, they are simply an extremist for whom the ends justify the means. Perhaps you can provide another reason for rigidly held views.
    ^
Mr. Holbert has provided a bipartisan message addressing the stagnation in DC; a message without the divisive wedge so many artists put in their works. Do you want a dialogue over the message, or do you simply wish to criticize messengers? Artist or commentator.
My future replies to you will be based on your answer.
    Respectfully,
    C.

It isn’t that congress is smells so much as that any given Senator’s & Congressman’s voters can’t smell on election day.

Thank you for the reply and its tone, Scott. As presented, you offer a fair question. I am on record as having no favorable opinion of Mr. Reid, Ms. Pelosi, or their republican counterparts. I blame a great deal of the impasse in DC on their behavior in 2009.
Regarding the budgets presented by Republicans, they included things such as the reversal of Obama’s version of Romney care and social hot buttons with which both parties use to gain political credibility with their bases, but which leave ‘possible’ issues on which Americans do agree stuck in the muck of partisan oneupmanship.
Reid is Democrat first, Nevadan second, and the USA comes somewhere after the special interests keeping him in office. I see the same attitudes among specific Repubs as well. I also see legislators who would be moderate if their parties would allow them. It may be my own slant, but I believe the Repubs to be more unforgiving than the Dems.
I like your analogy of the arsonist and the fireman. It is a perfect analogy if one remembers the man who started a major forest fire in order to get employment as a fire fighter a few years ago. By starting a fire that destroyed homes, animals, and habitat, he made money working for the forestry service. He was the arsonist, and the fireman.
I see the same mindset in our political parties, and you and I are being told it’s “the other guys fault.”
They are trying to divide us so we won’t talk about this and perhaps find a better idea, or candidate. It is possible to blame both sides, and if one is a realist, it’s very hard to not do so.
    Respectfully,
    C.
